What To Expect
Spend up to 3 hours hiking on the Fox Glacier, The fly-in, fly-out heli hike combines the excitement of walking on the Te Moeka o Tuawe/Fox Glacier with the thrill of helicopter flights. By flying in you can access and explore a part of the glacier where its forces work hardest and often create spectacular ice caves and arches. You will be outfitted with boots and crampons specially designed for these ice conditions. You follow the ice steps cut by your guide as you explore the amazing formations. Please note that this is a natural and ever-changing environment. Ice features change constantly and no guarantee can be given that specific features will be seen. This is a weather dependent trip. 5.00The experience was perfect! The helicopter flight to the glacier was incredible, and the views were spectacular. Our guide, Charlie, was great. He was very friendly, helpful, and made the glacier hike really enjoyable. He even opened a path through the ice for us, which made the experience even more special. The whole team was also very kind and professional from start to finish. Highly recommended!

5.00The Heli-Hike on fox glacier was amazing, what an experience!! Tyana and Zeki were enthusiastic and very knowledgeable guides!! All gear on the tour is provided: over trousers, jacket, gloves, socks, rucksack, boots and crampons. The whole morning was very well organised. Highly recommend to everyone!!

5.00The Fox Glacier helicopter and hike was phenomenal. Being able to be on the glacier, learn about its changing features and how it came to be over the years was fascinating. The Fox Glacier crew fit you with all your kit so you are prepared, I'd recommend thermals for added comfort. The helicopter ride and safety procedures were straightforward and clear. Our guide Sam is a terrific guide and he made sure we got to have a variety of experiences on the glacier. Including watching him scale an ice wall in seconds and answer all our questions and in an English accent ! A dear friend of mine said - when you go to NZ, splurge and do a glacier hike, I did and now I can say - when you go to NZ if you can - splurge and do a glacier experience - it is incredible.

5.00The entire staff, from check in through the guided tour, was friendly and knowledgeable. Safety is always at the forefront of everything they do, while still providing an exceptional adventure. Jakey and Henry were our guides and there were only four (4) of us in the group. We couldn't have asked for more knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides; they were constantly looking our for our well-being, while sharing their love for the sport.

5.00Fabulous experience with Fox Glacier. We were really impressed with our guide Jody who was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and focused on safety. The chopper ride was awesome and our 3 hours on the glacier was a very enjoyable, unique experience.

5.00My husband and I went on the hike with no prior experience or expectations when it came to hiking on ice. The guides were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and reassuring. Within minutes, I felt completely at ease as we began exploring. The guides were highly aware of the constantly changing conditions on the glacier, and at no point was safety compromised. During the hike it was incredible to witness the ice caves, waterfalls, and other hidden features within the glacier. I am very appreciative of the team for creating such a memorable and well-managed experience.

5.00I took my family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children ages 10 and 12. And honestly, this experience was INCREDIBLE!! Blown away by the level of coustomer service all the team had. And from start to finish at no point did we feel rushed. We had Charlie as our tour guide. Charlie was super down to earth, patient, caring and very informative. I'd also like to shout out Will and the gold helicopter pilot we had during our experience on the 9th of April 2026. Both were amazing aswell! 100% well worth the money. Our experience was roughly 5hrs, majority of that time was spent exploring the glacier. Atmosphere simply breath-taking. Highly, highly recommend! 10/10

5.00Had a great day heli hiking on Fox Glacier. Guides were excellent providing a fun and safe experience with knowledge about the glacier. Got to go into several areas of the ice and see different types of ice structures. Fun and safe ride up and down on the helicopters. Clear instruction from the guides and all needed gear provided. We. We’re initially cancelled due to bad weather but they opened up more spots the following day to work us in. Awesome experience!
