The geothermal walk was fascinating, and the mud bath was such a fun, unique treat. Soaking in the sulphur hot pools afterwards was incredibly relaxing. The staff were friendly, facilities clean, and the whole place felt well run. A must-do when visiting Rotorua!

If you're feeling tired, exhausted, disinterested, or anything similar, it's likely you need to recharge your "inner battery." This means you definitely need to visit Hell's Gate Mud Bath & Spas. Afterward, you'll feel like a newborn. Thanks a lot for an incredible and unforgettable experience!

We had such a great experience with the mud bath and an amazing soak ! It's a pity the mud bath was only 20 mins. Seemed so short. We want to come again soon ! It was great that we could move our booking to an earlier time too.

This is less a fancy spa and more a nature and cultural experience plus a spa bath. If you go for the spa, definitely plan time to do at least some of the geothermal walk first. It really helps put the spa portion into context and gives you a better appreciation for the hot springs overall. The mud bath was also VERY FUN and really nice for your skin. The hot spring was very relaxing. If it’s a warm day then you’re going to spend less time in the bath than you would in a built up spa. And definitely remove your jewelry and keep it off for 24 hours (which they tell you to do). Overall very nice and would go again.

Visited Hell's Gate Mud Bath & Spas while in Rotorua — and it’s definitely worth doing at least once. The geothermal walk through steaming fumaroles and sulphur-rich pools felt otherworldly, with bubbling mud, the smell of sulphur in the air, and a sense of ancient geothermal power. The mud bath itself was warm and surprisingly relaxing — my skin felt noticeably softer afterward.

If you do the Thermal wonderland or Volcanic Valley don't waste your money here, both are better, in our opinion the Thermal Wonderland is the best. We did the tour and mud bath and weren't impressed at all by either. The mud bath is stupid, you get 20 minutes in a Hot tub with muddy water. They tell you to cover yourself with mud in a container attached to the tub and let it dry, so to do that you have to get out of the tub and it takes probably 10 minutes to dry so you don't get much time for the "Healing Powers" to work. Then it's a real pain to clean off. Save your money and time for something better.

We went with my husband's distant cousin so there were 3 adults. Fascinating experience all the pools had names and with the name was an indicator of the heat and ph. This could vary tremendously. We walked round the perimeter and then walked along a bush trail up to the world's only hot water waterfall. For those of us from a non volcanic background it was extremely interesting

A wonderful experience to live with family, alone or with friends! Here too nature is fabulous. Baths are a comfort and softness for body and mind. It was raining that day, and those two elements together, hot and cold, were a perfection on my skin. I really loved it, thank you! I'd do it again if I could. I totally recommend. Thank you Viator.

Incredibly overpriced ($90 NZD) for what you get: - access to public mud pool for 20 mins - access afterwards to only two hot pools & one cold plunge pool Save your money and go to the mineral springs in Taupo (I paid $24 NZD at DeBrett's for access to multiple pools and it has an awesome kids' water play area) or better yet, go to Hanmer Springs on the South Island.
