Premil took us through a textbook review of fishing , Hinduism, local birds, Negombo culture. He is very personable and has a great sense of humor. We visited the fish market, the processing of fish from the local fishermen as well as the process of getting the fish to market. He also took us to a Hindu temple and explained the history of Hinduism in Negombo and some of the Religious beliefs in Hinduism. Premil also took us to A Catholic Church in the neighborhood. He outlined the history of Negombo from the perspective of one who has grown up in the community. Premil’s knowledge extended to bird life in the local area. He often pointed out birds on our walk. He spoke of the difficulty that Sri Lankans have faced in economic issues, financial failures and successes. He asked about Canada and drew comparisons with Sri Lanka. This individual is of notable intelligence and is able to articulate his culture as a young citizen in this country. We probably have participated in tours in 100 countries. Premil has as good a grasp on the subject matter of this country as the best that we have encountered.

I first connected with Prem for the Negombo walking tour. His guide Shashi was very insightful and patient through the entire walk. He waited at each sight and took ample breaks for photos or just breathers in the summer sun. Prem also helped me with drivers for long cross country journeys from Kandy to Trincomalee and from Colombo to Galle. Both the journeys featured well maintained cars, considerate drivers and a comfortable drive! Special shout out to Samith from Prem’s team who went above and beyond in helping us with safe accommodation. All in all, 5 stars for excellent no-fuss support through my trip in Sri Lanka.

We did the Negombo Walking Tour today with Shashi and had an amazing time. Shashi showed us some local Hindu temples, St Mary's Church, Negombo Lagoon and local markets including the very lively Fish Markets where we got to see the traditional processes of drying fish. Shashi was very knowledgeable, relaxed and friendly, sharing his local experiences and taking us around to beautiful historic places of Negombo. We would highly recommend.
