The Black River Gorges National Park, 67.54 km² of pure, wild, nature. The heart of Mauritius island, home of many endemic species, both animal and floral.
It offers a great discovery of the nature of the island.
During this hike we will discover different viewpoints from which we can contemplate different parts of the park and its surroundings.
Half-way up our climb, we discover the “Mare aux Joncs Gorge” that we like to call the “Bats Valley” because of the thousands of Mauritan Fruit-Bats we can observe there.
On top of our ascension, at 400m above sea level we get an amazing sight on the West-Coast, its lagoons and beautiful villages amountains. From there, we start our back back down to the river where we can stop to enjoy a nice swim before continuing to the parking lot of the park.

5.00Small hike in a beautiful setting with our guide Henri. Seasoned athlete who has adapted to our beginner level. We had a pleasant time and discovered this part of the island that makes you want to travel even more. Thank you Henri for this physical but soothing escape.

4.00Bird watching tour in the Black River Gorges NP with Yudish. A lovely early morning walk through the woods. Lucky enough to see a rare Mauritian kestrel and some other lovely animals. Nature facts from Yudish kept us informed and entertained!

5.00Fantastic tour! Our guide Paj was the most motivated and knowledgeable person about the area, he was enthusiastic and attentive the entire way. If we had more time, we would definitely go on another hike with him! The area was beautiful and felt untouched in many places. There was also crystal clear water of the river where we could take a plunge and enjoy a refreshing swim

5.00Loved the experience with Henry - who paced our trek very well, was very knowledgeable and ensured that everyone in the group was well taken care of and left fully satisfied and with a smile on their face. The forest itself is amazing - a living ecosystem of greens. And the hike was a 6km loop with an elevation gain of 300m with good views - with the ascent in the first half with a gradual descent in the second half.
