Hiking in Kelmend and Vajusha Peak from Lepushe. A 3 days tour that combines the majesty of the mountains with Selca waterfall and crystal water canyons. The region of Kelmend, as one of the most picturesque parts of the country, is also an important part of “Via Dinarica” and “Peaks of the Balkans” trails going through Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. The walks are usually smooth and very scenic all combined with the friendly locals and the typical welcome of Albanian Highland.

Hiking in Kelmend, Vajusha Peak and Selca Waterfall First DayTirana - Shkoder - Vermosh We will leave Tirana to head toward the North of the country, with the first stop at Shkoder. Know as the biggest city of the North, it has traditionally been the cultural, financial, and political center of the Albanian North. Short Stop in the city of Shkoder for a tour of Shkoder. Leaving Shkoder behind we will head more to the Northwest highland of Albania. Often known as Kelmend, this area is one of the most scenic and dramatic. Sharp limestone mountainous formations, going as high as the sky, where in their feet, soft valleys and small pastoral villages are living their day-to-day life. This is also a region highly known also for its cultural values when in 2022 its typical Female dress “Xhubleta” became part of UNESCO Heritage. Or for more, we can mention the history of “Nora e Kelemendit”. In addition, the destination for the day will be Vermosh. Known as the northeast village of Albania it has also the highest number of people living around Kelmend. After lunch and accommodation at the Guesthouse, we will have the first hikes exploring the area. The destination for the day will be the Waterfall of Kelmend and the Bashkimi Canyon. Easy hikes on the first day will occupy around 2 hours. Overnight and Dinner at Vermosh. Second DayHiking Tour of Vajusha Peak from Lepushe Leaving Vermosh, we will go to the next village of Lepushe. Lëpusha is one of the most spectacular natural gems of the famous Kelmend region. Also, muse about many landscape photographers and objects of countless spectacular captures! The rugged landscape, fresh air, and rare tranquility of this area make it a go-to destination for outdoor lovers. Nature truly puts on a show here with high peaks, green pastures, and dense forests. Located in the Albanian Highlands (Malësia e Madhe), not far from Shkodra, Lëpusha is named after the wild yellow flowers that grow there, called Lëpushtra. The hike itself is not technically difficult and is doable by everyone with healthy fitness. The terrain is soft and is totally safe to be hiked for most of the year, even on snow. The peak itself is just at the border of Albania and Montenegro and offers a spectacular view during all seasons of the year. Dinner and Overnight in Vermosh. Acceding: 700 m Descending: 700 m Distance: 10 Km Third DayHiking in Selca - Selca Waterfall We will leave Vermosh for our way back and the next destination will be the Selca Waterfall. Not far from the village of Secla, this is one of the biggest in the country. It starts with a powerful spring flowing from old rock, formed years ago, and falls from a height of about 30 m. In order to reach this destination, we must walk for approximately two hours. The hike is a chance to explore numerous mountain paths, see wonderful landscapes and visit the astounding eight karstic caves of Pogonica, Grada, Rruga, Vllojaku, Paja, Turçini, among others. After the time at the waterfall, we will have a lunch break planned before we head to Tirana.

My brother and I originally booked a hiking tour of Dibër during our trip to Albania, but due to weather conditions, that one got cancelled. Looking back, we're actually grateful for this twist of fate, as it led us to the tour of Vermosh and Lepushë as an alternative. We thoroughly enjoyed our adventurous yet serene few days in northern Albania with our exceptional guide Daniel. His impressive mountaineering abilities were matched only by his deep knowledge of Albanian history and culture, which he thoughtfully shared to give context to everything we experienced. The sights were truly breathtaking. Vejusha peak stands as impressive as any alpine scene I've witnessed across Europe. The numerous waterfalls and lakes we encountered were equally spectacular – though unfortunately, we visited before spring had fully arrived, making swimming an exercise in hypothermia rather than relaxation! One word of advice: please take seriously the recommended gear list for this tour. I regrettably forgot proper hiking shoes, and the challenging terrain definitely demands them. If you're considering a hiking adventure in Albania, this northern route offers an unforgettable experience with the perfect balance of adventure and natural beauty.

Our trip was epic. Our guide was really knowledgeable and friendly. Vajusha peak had snow on in April, so the tour we had was slightly different to what the description is above. We still did that hike (stunning) but some of the walks we different. Our guide adapted the trip to our needs (thanks for the winery visit on the way home) There was a lot of driving as we went to Lapoosh and Theth. The views were sensational. The walks that we did on the different days varied in difficulty - the peak was not hard but technical in the snow. Some of the others were not challenging but had great scenery. The food provided by the different stops and accommodations were all great - don't expect to finish a meal hungry.

Started off my Albanian adventure in the north of the country with this 3 day tour. The experience was nothing but great. I got lucky to visit on autumn. The season's colors were like it was a movie scene. Everything was perfect, the guesthouse were comfortable the guide was amazing.

Our family's journey to Vermosh was pure delight! The rugged landscapes unfolded before us, and laughter echoed through the mountain air. Our guide, a true gem, shared local tales and navigated us flawlessly. From the Velan quarter to the Vermosh River, every step was magic. We picnicked on lush meadows, our hearts full. Vermosh, you etched memories in our souls. And our guide? A storyteller, a friend, and an explorer—simply exceptional.

The best view on the driveway throughout the canyons and high mountains, amazing view in the canyon of Selca and the waterfall at the top, the best part was with the hike in Vajusha Peak from where you could check steep alps of Albania and the valley of Lepusha village. The guesthouse in Vermosh was very welcoming with very good traditional food. The tour guide Daniel very well prepared and professional. I would recommend it to nature lovers.
