Serra de Malagueta
The hikking starts at 800 meters of altitude, with a extraordinary panoramic Serra Malagueta is a very green natural park, mainly in the period of the year, between Augusts to December. The park allows a small walk on foot and enjoys the magnificent plantations and being the second highest peak of the island, the mountain allows a beautiful panoramic view of the island. Natural Park is an protect area by government. After 1 hour walking we saw another Panoramic view of the island. Is a perfect park to relax and enjoy your stay.

Stunning views, great guide, relaxed trip

5.00We had a very nice day with Adilson (the driver) and José (our guide). The day before, we made some arrangements with Adilson on WhatsApp to extend our trip with a lunch in Assomada and a visit to the famous Assomada market, which wasn't a problem for them at all. We drove from Praia to Serra Malagueta (about 1h20). My mom and me get carsick quickly but luckily Adilson drove very well. The park is absolutely stunning and although it wasn't a clear day, it still was worth the trip. We hiked up to the antenna, overlooking the beautiful Gongong Valley, and back (around 10km in total). We had a short break with snacks and juice. José was super nice and very calm, which was very much appreciated. We don't like pretend-funny or pushy guides but José was neither of these. He was very relaxed and thus so were we. When we come back to Santiago and want do another hike in Serra Malagueta, we'll definitely ask for him again!
