I questioned whether to include Hiroshima and was so glad that I did. My tour guide was Shion. He was welcoming and kind, we chatted the whole day about everything from food, travel, aspirations and family. We used the train and tram, walked and explored both Miyajima and Hiroshima. The wooden temples were breath taking and a must. As were those build slightly above high tide mark. We walked through the monk training tunnel, a small stair case down and you use your left hand to guide your way through the dark passage. The idea is that you use the time to get in sync with your senses and practise self reflecting. It was a bit too dark for my liking but Shion held my hand the whole way. I felt so proud when I returned to day light, only took approx 5 mins but I certainly second guessed myself haha. Mountains meet seaside, with a side of oyster farm and ferry. Made memories for sure. If you get the chance please book with Shion, you will have the best adventure 🫶🏼
