Mount Field National Park
Mount Field is one of Tasmania’s oldest National Parks, and surely the prettiest. Only 1.5 hours from Hobart, this natural wonderland features lush temperate rainforest, moody alpine moorland and cascading waterfalls. It’s a place of serenity and great short walks – and there are plenty on the agenda.
Russell Falls
We begin with the walk to Russell Falls which is easily Tasmania’s most recognisable waterfall with its 3-tiered drop. It is an easy and enjoyable walk along a beautiful forest track among mixed forest and temperate rainforest species. This is Tassie’s most photographed waterfall, and we soak up the awesome view before continuing our walk.

Very well planned out trip, the guide ensured that we made the best time out there in the wild. Would recommend this to anyone travelling to Hobart and to witness Tassie ruggedness from the word go!

Stunning scenery and waterfalls in Mt Field National Park. Quite a few steps. Little pademelons around. So cute. Wildlife sanctuary was fun.

Great views of south Tasmania. Will remind Americans of the western slope of rocky mountains. The last step climb in national park is a killer! 400 steps straight uphill... same your energy

The most incredible scenic hike. The waterfalls were amazing. Not so much the steps! Our guide was very informative.
