Enjoy a magical 6-6.5 hour tour to the Hobbiton Movie set, used for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film series, which has made NZ famous.
Leaving the port, we first travel past the stunning beaches of Mount Maunganui, a top NZ holiday destination, across the harbor bridge and into the country, over the Kaimai mountain ranges, into the lush farming district of the Waikato, the location of Hobbiton.
At Hobbiton you can visit the Shires Rest Cafe, browse the souvenir shop or just take in the stunning views before joining the 2.5 hour guided tour, explore inside a Hobbit home and finish at The Green Dragon Pub with a complimentary Ale.
As Cruise ship arrival times varies so much, we adjust the start time to suit, which we confirm to you when your booking is accepted, always having you back at the ship in good time for its departure.
Please see the Additional Info section for details of our cancellation policy should the ship cancel its port of call within 24 hours of arrival.

Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
If you have not already specified, you MUST advise supplier as soon as possible your ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and departure time so that appropriate arrangements can be made
Children must be accompanied by an adult
Comfortable walking shoes are recommended
A rain jacket and layers are recommended
We adjust the tour start and end time to suit the ships time in port, which varies greatley
These tour operate only for cruise ships passengers visiting Tauranga
If the ship cancels its port of call within the 24 hour notice period, we will offer you a partial refund of the tour cost, adult refund is $160 NZ, youth refund is $150 NZ and a child refund is $140. We cannot offer a 100% refund as the Hobbiton Movie set does not offer any refund in such circumstances.
Cancellation Policy
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

4.00Hobbits are well worth a visit even though you, like me, have not seen the movies and are not interested. A must when you're as close as we were, Tauranga. Possibly a bit expensive.

5.00Our driver/guide Allen took us from cruise port to McLaren Falls and gave us much information about New Zealand. He then delivered us to the Hobbiton bus that took us to the hobbiton site. A Hobbiton guide took us through hobbiton area and our driver/guide Allen took us back to port, offering to drop is off outside of port if we wished. Great excursion and fun place to visit.

5.00I had booked the tour for a shore departure from a cruise ship. Unfortunately, the captain of our Anthem of the Seas decided on short notice that the weather was too windy for us to enter the harbour. My immediate cancellation was processed immediately and I received a full refund of my payment. Thank you, because this is not a given and was a small consolation for the fancy trip, which I was already very much looking forward to.

5.00Due to some really bad weather, we were not able to make to to Hobbiton as our cruise ship did not dock. HOWEVER, I did not want to miss an opportunity to drop a quick line to say how AMAZING the tour operator was. They communicated with us and helped get information from the port, just an all around amazing team of people. Under their policies they could have gave us a big sorry and then kept our money, but they met us with kindness and grace. THANK YOU for everything and I promise that we will be back someday and will ensure to book with you once again!

5.00Our cruise ship was unable to dock due to weather conditions. This company learned the information before I did and immediately issued a refund. Throughout the process they kept in contact and responded to inquiries immediately. If I ever have such an opportunity in the future I would surely book with them again.

5.00We booked a cruise that was stopping in Tauranga and we planned to take the Hobbiton movie set to tour. From the very beginning it was an easy process to book and we received confirmation and communication from the tour company answering all of our questions. Unfortunately when we arrived the weather did not permit are ship to dock at the Port. We honestly were devastated because of this as Hobbiton was at the top of our list in reasons to come to New Zealand. I immediately reached out to see if the tour operator would be able to rebook us at a later date. We fortunately had plans to visit New Zealand at the end of the cruise. Our possible dates to visit Hobbiton were quite limited and they were unable to offer us a tour however they gave us information that was very useful in being able to book with another company. in spite of the fact that they had over a hundred bookings they had to cancel because of the failure of the ship to dock they very quickly reached out to us with a personal message letting us know that they had already refunded our tour. It included a reply to my message and instructions on how to book for a later date with a different company. I would highly recommend that you book with them. You can have utmost confidence that you will be well taken care of.
