Join this tour to visit two of New Zealand’s most famous attractions, Hobbiton Movie Set and Waitomo Caves, in one easy day trip from Auckland. Our tour from 1 December 2023 will be the extended Hobbiton Experience (now 2.5 hours) where you can venture beyond the door to a fully themed Hobbit Hole interior. Immerse yourself in the interior with entry hall, bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, dining area, equipped bathroom, parlour and crackling fireplace. Be fascinated as the magical world of Hobbiton comes to life and take photos in front of your favourite places like the Hobbit Holes, the Shire and the Green Dragon Inn. Then journey to the World Famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves and be captivated by the thousands of magical glowworms twinkling in the Grottos, the stalactites and stalagmites as you glide silently through the cave by boat. Marvel at the stunning scenery en route as we journey off the motorways into the real hinterland of New Zealand. All admission fees and cafe lunch included.

We do not pick up from the suburbs of Auckland; only the Downtown CBD and 1 location in South Auckland for those staying near the airport-The Sebel Manukau Hotel, 16 Lakewood Court, Manukau

There is no photography allowed in the area of the Caves where the glowworms are as the glowworms react negatively to flashlight and will turn their lights off and they then take 2 hours to return to their full luminescence.

Tour leaves Auckland at 6:30am with everyone on board-the pickups occur across the CBD in the 25 minutes prior to that

Nice place and experience. The arrangement very smooth by Hobitton staff. We want to appreciate also for the arrangement and service from Auckland Scenic Tours, especially from our guide, Danny, who is very attentive to each member of the tour participants.

The typhoon driven rain could not stop a nice tour and experience. The Hobbiton home was amazing and the cave river tour was unique.

This was a great tour. Mike was an awsome guide. The tour was well organized, communication before and during the tour was clear and consistent. we kept ro our time schedule but never felt rushed. Highly recommend.

It was nice to sit back and enjoy the scenery while the tour guide did the driving and educating. Hobbiton was a dream. The caves were beautiful, a great day trip all around.

We had the absolute pleasure of having Liam as our tour guide on the Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves day trip, and he truly made the experience unforgettable. From the very beginning, Liam was super friendly, funny, and incredibly chatty in the best way possible. He went out of his way to learn everyone’s name, which made the group feel really connected and welcomed. What stood out most was how much effort he put into making sure the trip was not just informative but also genuinely entertaining. He kept everyone engaged with fun commentary, stories, and jokes throughout the day. Liam even surprised us with a few unexpected stops that were totally random—but in the best way. They added such a fun and spontaneous vibe to the day! It’s clear he genuinely cares about giving people a great experience. On top of all that, he took a real interest in our family—especially our daughter, asking thoughtful questions about her hip hop dance competition and chatting with her about it. That kind of genuine connection meant a lot to us. Can’t recommend him enough—if you get Liam as your guide, you’re in for a great time!
