Aberdeen Fishing Village
You will check in at Aberdeen Fisherman's Wharf 香港仔漁人碼頭. Next you will embark on a unique adventure as you take a 20-minute ride on a Chinese-style sightseeing teak boat. During the ride, you will be given a multilingual audio guide (English, Japanese, Mandarin or Cantonese), that will provide you with stories and historical information about different landmarks that you will see along the way. From the comfort of your boat, you will be able to admire the stunning views of the fishing village while learning about its rich cultural heritage and the significance of each landmark.
While Jumbo Floating Restaurant might be gone, the oldest and only standing floating restaurant - Tai Pak Floating Restaurant is still standing strong in the middle of Aberdeen Fishing Village. Tai Pak - being one of the 13 landmarks is a renowned seafood restaurant that was built in the 1950s and also known for its ancient imperial architectural design. The restaurant (soon to be reopened) sears around 600 diners. It was featured in several movies and visited by dignitaries (late Queen Elizabeth II) and Hollywood starts. During the tour, we will stop in front of Tai Pak Floating Restaurant for you to take a picture with the magnificent imperial like floating structure as your backdrop!

Good way to get an initial look at Aberdeen. The prerecorded English guide was a little off of the progress, but it the end we could figure out what they were talking about

It’s a shabby old area with nothing else there. The boat trip is nowhere near the money you pay for it. It was nice to see an old fishing village but the floating boat is a clapped out old heap. It’s on the other side of Hong Kong too so it costs you money to get there. I enjoyed it but it’s only worth £10/15 in my humble opinion. We paid £48 for two people and £30 in taxis. Not worth it. Boat trip was about 30/40 mins long. Staff were very nice.

This was not worth the time or money. First off, the operator had no idea that I was coming or that I had signed up and already paid. There was no audio tour. This was only 1 hour long when it was advertised as being longer. The “museum” wasn’t a museum.

The Sampan ride was fun but there was no commentary. It was a private ride. The lunch afterwards was very poor. My husband had the noodle soup. I had the fried rice. My fried rice was the worst I have ever eaten. It was all globbed together. The meat in the soup was very tough and the broth was very bland. The noodles were mediocre. This was an expensive experience that would have been a lot less if we had just walked up. Definitely do not do the lunch add on. If there was a money back guarantee I would ask for my money back.

I guess they are as authentic as they get, but not necessarily old. and a great way to putter (wala wala) around the bay. You get great views of the surrounding buildings, the super yachts and the fishing village. Took about 20 minutes. ..

PROS: I caught fish. The noodle bowl was good. It was a cheap 1-2 hour activity. CONS: there was NO tour. The boat never got untied from the dock!! I "fished" between a bunch of moored boats. Fishing "equipment" included a small spool of line, a sinker and small hook, some small chunks of shrimp (for bait), an ice cream pail, and gloves. I was shown how to literally throw the hook over the edge and watch the fish nibble at my bait. The "outfitter" was a lady who gave me the handful of items and told me I was likely not going to catch anything and to just expect to watch the fish in the murky water. See photos. The saving grace is, I DID catch a fish. 9, to be exact, in about 1.5 hours. They're small but who cares! I'm fully aware I would've rated this "excursion" 1 star had I caught nothing. With my raw-shrimpy/fishy hands (and no way to wash or wipe hands except with a roll of provided toilet paper), I ate the Noodle Lunch bowl on the boat tied to the dock as opposed to while cruising past scenic views.

We went on the trip to explore the history of Hong Kong. And this trip seemed to be ideal. Certainly the highlights were seeing the Tai Pay floating restaurant which sadly is not open and also you going aboard a houseboat that was a former fish dryer’s home. However the best bit of all was all the extra insight that Amy gave us. She was brilliant - and then in conversation revealed that she grew up on a houseboat until she was 16. An amazing story and made the whole trip come alive. Thank you very much Amy
