What To Expect

Experience the rush of Alaska whitewater! Get ready for an adrenaline-packed adventure as you navigate this Class IV creek, running through two consecutive canyons. Each canyon offers increasingly beautiful and challenging terrain, with narrow passages, steep drops, crashing waves, and deep, stunning blue pools. Surrounded by lush rainforest walls, this thrilling ride will keep you on the edge of your seat! The creek cuts through the breathtaking Chugach National Forest before flowing into the Pacific Ocean at Turnagain Arm, just a short distance from the charming town of Hope. Located only two hours south of Anchorage off the Seward Highway, this tour combines exhilarating rapids with the serene beauty of a semi-rainforest gorge—truly a picture-perfect river trip. Both our 2-canyon and 3-canyon rafting trips include a mandatory (yet fun) in-river swim test before launching. This ensures everyone’s comfort and safety in the water, allowing participants to practice self-rescue techniques and assess swimming abilities before hitting the rapids.

  • They really want you to go through three canyons...

Good whitewater rafting experience. The guides are very chill, but seem to be expert in tough water. The boats and equipment were in great shape. The team did a good job of educating the participants on how to be safe in the water and in the boat. The mandatory swim test was a new one to me. The only downside is that everyone in our group signed up for the TWO Canyon experience. However, the team iterated and reiterated that we could add on the THIRD canyon after the first two for only $75 per person. While they didn't give me and my son any trouble when we quit after two, it was an obvious inconvenience to them as they had to add a second safety boat in and cart us to the take-out site separate from everyone else.

I took the two canyon Six Mile Creek trip with Chugach Outfitters. This is a challenging section of whitewater, but the guide in our raft, Wally, was outstanding. All of the equipment used by this company is first rate and the company is clearly focused on customer safety with an extra pontoon boat and shoreline assistance in the most challenging locations.

I would recommend to do full trip ($179) because if you book this trip they will ask you when you on the raft that you wanna go to the 3rd canyon if you wanna go pay more $75/person that way expensive than this app anyway the trip was so fun. it’s quite dangerous but it worth it

  • Bumpy ride, smooth recovery ❤️‍🩹

We had a rocky experience on our trip, but the team followed up quickly, handled our concerns professionally, and made things right, which we really appreciated. We also want to give a shoutout to our bus driver, who kept things cool, offered solid advice, and played great tunes. Here’s a haiku just for him: 10 grand hands rolls smooth AC/DC shaking seats Rock on, bus driver

Mist kissed my wet face, Christian steered our crooked path - we laughed, screamed, then soaked. Christian was an excellent guide who expertly navigated challenging rapids while keeping the group safe and engaged.
