...had a very lovely experience. I've not ridden a horse since I was a kid, but the guides were very patient and gentle with both the horse and myself, and after about 20 minutes I felt thoroughly comfortable. The horses were gorgeous, gentle, and clearly well cared for. The scenery was spectacular, and even if the weather was a bit rough (hail, snow, and rain), the experience was magical. The guides cater to different skill levels, and more advanced riders were given the option to join a faster paced group, while us amateurs could stay with a like-minded group going at a walking pace. The guides were nice enough to come by and snap photos of us on our horses, too, which was very thoughtful. The stables are very well-equipped, and they had plenty of rain pants (a necessity), helmets, and gloves. You could also buy decent gloves on site for a little less than $15. For an advanced rider this experience may be a little too basic, but for me, it was absolutely ideal!

We had a great time. The horses were awesome, just the right mix of feisty and well behaved. The guides were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Amazing views. Would definately do it again.

The kindest guides who clearly know the animals well, are deeply experienced, and go out of their way to ensure everyone feels supported. They made sure our group of 5, including 2 children, were kept together throughout our ride, and took great photos of each of us and our group on horseback. Our children said this was the highlight of an action-packed holiday, and we would recommend it to anyone.

Genuinely one of the most extraordinary things I’ve ever done. I am away with family so couldn’t do a longer tour and was worried I would be bored as an experienced rider on the shorter lava tour, however this is not the case I was extremely lucky in that when the tour was split into the slower just walk group and a faster group that no one else wanted to go faster so I lucked out with a private tour ! I can’t remember my tour guides name but we spent the entire time chatting about our horses and have a go at the all the paces and speeds the Icelandic pony had to offer. The horse I was given was epic and I genuinely enjoyed every second !

It was an incredible experience. Staff was really friendly and helpful. They were taking pictures of us during the tour which was really nice of them. I felt very comfortable riding the horse even though it was my first time. After the tour we got tea coffee and hot chocolate it was really nice touch. They provide warm jackets so no need to worried about anything. Highly recommend trip❤️

Booked Íshestar as one of our tours whilst visiting Iceland! It was Amazing! Everything you need is provided helmet, waterproofs, snowsuits if needed. The tour guides are super friendly, informative, very accommodating and adaptive to different abilities of riding in the group! At the end you can spend some time in the paddock with the beautiful Icelandic horse! Tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided! Highly recommend whilst visiting this beautiful country!

Highest of recommendations to Ishestar! We’ve only ever had great experiences with them. The horses are beautiful & well cared for. The stable & grounds are immaculate & the staff friendly & helpful. I felt safe having my 4yo do a paddock ride (she loved it!) & my non-riding husband & son went off on a longer adventure, which was a trip highlight. This is worth every penny!

We had a great experience at the Ishestar riding tour. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly receptionist, had a nice coffee (or hot chocolate for the kids). We watch a brief safety video and met our very helpful guides who accompanied us on the ride. The weather was windy with a chance or rain, so the guides made sure we were prepared for the elements. They matched us with horses based on our riding experience and then had a great ride through the lava fields along a nice riding trail. Once the sun came up we had great views of the mountains in the distant. The staff took pictures (or videos) of each of the riders on their horse. I would highly recommend Ishestar Horse Riding Tours, my family and I had a great experience .

Drove straight from the airport to Ishestar for a winter ride through the lava field, had a fantastic time! Excellent, welcoming atmosphere with a team who clearly cares a great deal for the horses. I enjoyed it so much I visited again in my way back to KEF. The horses are lovely, and you will have fun regardless of your previous experience. Looking forward to visiting again for a longer trip in the warmer months.
