4.00Our guide was fun and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the experience. Be aware that the “car” was the guide’s private vehicle, which he used to get two less mobile guests from one point to another. All walking for the rest of us. Not a big deal, but Viator descriptions often understate the distances and steps people are traversing .

5.00This was a small group of 10 people. It was a great tour around the Hells in Beppu. Shin our guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything. He then took to us to a local area to have some food/snacks. A private onsen was then arranged by Shin this was an optional choice. Brilliant tour would definitely recommend.

5.00I had such an amazing experience with my guide Shin!! I booked this tour and ended up being the only one who did so for this day and was very happy about it. It was such a pleasure exploring Beppu with Shin and getting to know him as well. Whenever I come back, I will definitely book more tours with him!

1.00This tour cost the two of us $180 and we had a nice guide who took photos of us, took us to a neat restaurant, and drove us back to the cruise ship port. Additionally we paid separately for taxi fare to the springs, entrance tickets, and our lunch. There was no commentary about the history and geography of the hot springs. For $150 less we could have walked around on our own and taken our own photos.

5.00We travelled with our family to Beppu & our guide Shin was great in taking us around the hot springs of Beppu with interesting facts & knowledge of the area. We then had a delicious meal based on Shin’s recommendation. A definite must while visiting Beppu, we cannot recommend him enough!

5.00Thank you Shin-san for such a wonderful private tour in Beppu and Oita! Shin went out of his way to personalize the tour, making my journey in this part of Japan special. We started with the "Hells" of Beppu, and he shared his detailed knowledge of the hot springs and their cultural significance in a captivating manner. He made sure to learn my interests and take me "off the beaten path" to help me discover parts of Beppu and Oita that I never would have found on my own. At one stop on the tour I even caught a glimpse of how he approaches teaching music, and I can say with confidence that if you decide to take his guitar or hand pan instruction you will find that he is a capable and understanding teacher who will personalize your lessons. Indeed, both as a tour guide and as a music instructor, Shin-san will meet you where you are in your journey.
