Highly recommended! Our guide Andy was engaging and energetic and took us to great eateries with tasty offerings and drinks that did not disappoint. Our group of nine was the perfect size, so we could fit comfortably in all the restaurants, and also get to know each other and Andy, who was full of fun facts and local history that elevated the whole experience, while keeping the mood light and lively. This experience was a great way to kick off our two-day stay in Osaka. I recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get an intro to Osaka street food and an enjoyable night of socializing and visiting a mix of fun locations. The only caution I would give is to know your limits--there is a lot of food and drink ("Hungry" is in the title for a reason!) and it all looks yummy, and you don't want to regret it later, so pace yourself and have a good time during the food tour--and after! :D

Hearing Adam's familiar accent made us Aussies feel instantly comfortable. Adam gave great insight into local foods, culture and history. As an expat married a Japanese person and raising a family in Japan for many years his knowledge was valuable and experiences were so interesting to hear. Adam's friendliness and good humour made the whole experience great fun and the food was delicious; even my bottomless pit son was full! Highly recommend 👌 🙌👏

We had an excellent time on this Osaka food tour and would highly recommend it. The stops were all real, local places that we never would have found on our own — exactly the kind of authentic, everyday spots that make Japanese food culture so special. Andy was an outstanding guide: incredibly knowledgeable about both the food and Osaka more broadly, engaging throughout, and genuinely funny without ever being over the top. He struck the perfect balance between sharing insight, keeping the group entertained, and letting the experience feel relaxed and natural. If you want to eat where locals actually eat and learn a lot along the way, this tour is absolutely worth doing. A real highlight of our time in Osaka.

We joined the Hungry Osaka Street Food Tour last night with our family, and it was one of the absolute highlights of our time in Japan. The tour is based in Shinsekai, and the atmosphere of the area added enormously to the experience — vibrant neon lights, retro signage, bustling streets, and that wonderfully nostalgic “old Osaka” vibe that feels lively, characterful, and completely unique. The food was exceptional and thoughtfully curated. We sampled a fantastic range of Osaka favourites including karaage, yakitori, udon, oden, kushikatsu, tebasaki, and a delicious dessert to finish. The portions were generous, the pacing was perfect, and each stop felt carefully chosen — places we would never have confidently discovered or ordered from on our own. Our guide Andy was truly excellent. He shared fascinating historical insights about Shinsekai, its early development, Western influences, and how the area has evolved over time. These stories brought real depth to the experience and gave context to both the neighbourhood and the food. Andy was warm, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable, and he made the tour feel relaxed, inclusive, and very family-friendly. This tour struck the perfect balance between food, culture, and local history, and it gave us a much deeper appreciation of Osaka and its people. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Hungry Osaka Street Food Tour to anyone wanting an authentic, memorable introduction to Osaka — especially in such a character-filled neighbourhood as Shinsekai. A genuine five-star experience.

It was a great foods tour in Osaka if you want to enjoy good true local street foods without being too crowded. Our tour guide Kenzo was very nice and knowledgeable about the restaurants and places to go for tourists liked us. Especially trying to find good restaurants opened on New Year day in Osaka!

Must-do in Osaka! You won’t find food like this on your own. We ate a variety of incredible and authentic food all evening long at true local gems and hole-in-the-wall spots. Daniel was an excellent host and took great care of us. We had such a great experience on this tour and recommend it to anyone who wants a taste of the best that Osaka has to offer.

This was such an awesome food tour! The food was amazing in general, but really it was our tour guide Kenzo that made it shine as bright as a star! He was kind enough to help us arrive and wait for the group in an appropriate manner. He was excellent at uniting the group, breaking the ice, explaining the areas we walked through and the food we ate, he had a hilarious sense of humor... and by the way, the food was seriously delicious! ...so good that we didn't even take pictures of it before eating! If I could give this tour and the tour guide 6 stars, I would!
