From September, the tour includes even more food and a third drink— better value than ever. You’ll explore hidden alleys, arcades, and eateries only locals know, stopping at five hand-picked spots we visit often. Enjoy 15+ dishes, 3 local drinks, and Osaka favourites like takoyaki, karaage, kushikatsu, udon, and oden among many others.

Shinsekai

Time permitting, we’ll take a short stroll around Shinsekai—an often-overlooked area packed with hidden gems, fun facts, and sights to discover.

Tsutenkaku

Walk past Tsutenkaku, the famous landmark tower that is the focal point of the area and see where kushikatsu all began. Walk through the streets that over a century ago, were designed to bring a western feeling to Osaka.

Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide walked us through a number of restaurants, tasting typical Osaka street food. It's a very intimate experience; some places only had a dozen or so seats. A nice introduction to street cuisine by a friendly local.

This food tour ended up being one of the best ways we could’ve been introduced to Osaka. Adam was an excellent guide and did a great job using food as a way to explain the culture, history, and day-to-day rhythms of the city—not just pointing out what to eat. What stood out most was how much context he added at every stop. We learned why certain foods are popular in Osaka, how locals actually approach eating out, and how neighborhoods have evolved over time. It felt less like a checklist of dishes and more like getting a genuine peek into how people live here. The pacing was relaxed and intentional, the food was great, and nothing felt rushed or overly touristy. We walked away not just full, but with a better understanding of the city and a lot more confidence navigating Osaka on our own. If you’re interested in culture as much as food, this tour is absolutely worth it—especially with Adam leading it!

Tim gave an informative tour of Osaka in an area we hadn’t explored yet. We came hungry and left full. Even our 16 year old daughter enjoyed trying new dishes and ending the night with a dessert. Thanks Tim for sharing your knowledge and time with us!

The Hungry Osaka Food Tour with Tim was a true highlight of our trip! We visited 5 different eateries as we walked through the Shinsekai Market. Tim was greeted enthusiastically by each location, he shared expert knowledge of the food, and made us all feel welcomed. The progression of the tour was just right with the order of the food, the portions were generous, and we loved experiencing each stop. Tim made the experience an 11/10. Highly, highly recommend! This was the best welcome to Osaka!

Loved the tour with Scott! He was a gracious and loquacious guide, able to explain in depth the history and culture of Osaka and Japan, along with walking us through all the dishes we had in depth. The pace of the tour excellent, we were able to enjoy several dishes without feeling stuffed or overwhelmed! Highly recommend!

We had an awesome experience on our food tour of Shinsekai last night with the knowledgeable, fun and super friendly guide - Scott. The food was so delicious and we met some other lovely people which made the evening all the more enjoyable. We couldn’t have had a better time and Scott was the best host. This is a must for any foodies visiting Osaka!!
