One of the many names Barbados came to be known by was "Little England". What could be more British than a garden and a great house? Visit Anthony Hunte's masterpiece garden; this garden in a sink hole that has been transformed into one of the most beautiful spots on the island. A visit to Barbados will not be complete without a stop in Bathsheba, famous for its breathtaking beauty and pounding surf. Following Bathsheba there we will make our way to Morgan Lewis Windmill. The windmill is on the top 100 endangered historical sites in the world. Then we will continue up the hill to Cherry Tree Hill for a short photo op. stop before moving on to St. Nicholas Abbey. This Plantation House is likely the last remaining authentic house of the 17th Century that exists in the "New World". The Plantation produces award winning rum and they are always delighted to offer you a sample.

Bathsheba is located on the Eastern coastline of Barbados. It is said that this area was named after the wife of King David whose name was “Bathsheba”. Legend has it that she bathed in milk to keep her skin beautiful and soft, and the rolling surf waters of Bathsheba’s “Soup Bowl” resembled Bathsheba’s bath. The area is popular with surfers. Tour with Glyne to Hunte’s gardens, Bathsheba Beach, St Nicolas Abbey including the train ride. Glyne really looked after us and was a font of knowledge but also great fun. The train ride of 45 minutes was excellant and not to be missed. It takes you to Cherry Tree Hill with amazing views. I can highly recommend this tour. Thanks Glyne and Beautiful Barbados Tours x

Our complaint is with the efficiency of the tour. We had basically 2 destinations that day, St. Nicholas Abbey and Hunte's Gardens. We were picked up first, 8:05 am, and then a second couple from a hotel a few kms away. Then we headed out, drove for an hour(? Still hopeful at this point that we were going the right direction). A stop at Harrison's Caves to pick up another couple had to take 20 minutes. We then seemed to take the long way to get to St. Nicholas Abbey where we met up with the final 2 people for our tour. It appeared we missed our appointed time for a train ride and we waited approx 30 minutes to have our turn. The rest of our visit at the Abbey was rushed to meet time schedules out of our control. On to Hunte's Gardens where we were allotted 45 minutes. Very unfortunate as it's a lovely spot. Our final stop was at Bathseda for a 15 minute photo op. The last two couples to join the tour were staying on the opposite side of the island from the first four guests. The latecomers were delivered home first. The last 4 guest therefore spent 8.5 hours on the tour, rather than 5 hours.

We loved our tour of Hunte's Garden and St. Nicholas Abbey but what made the experience exceptional was our driver/guide, Cris. She was funny, knowledgeable, chill and just a pleasure to be around.

I really like the trip, it was nice and relaxing, the tour guide Glyan was very accommodating and tried to inform us about almost everything. I whish we could spend more time in Hunte's Garden and got know that there are different train options. The train ride was highlights of the trip.

On the positive side Hunte’s garden was really good and the guide Glyne was great, really engaging and shared lots of interesting facts about the island. Negatives - too much wasted time as a result of people booking multiple different tour options on the same bus which wasn’t advertised. Ended up spending 2 hours at St Nicholas Abbey which was way too long whilst people who had done the train option then did the tour of the house. Lunch was underwhelming at a soulless roadside cafe. What was advertised as a 6 hour trip ended up 8 hours with a lot of dead time.

The locations visited were great but the tour operator itself needs to work on time management. I was picked up at 8:45am and the tour is advertised as 5 hours but I was not delivered back to my hotel until 4:30pm. Fortunately I didn’t have any other obligations that were disrupted by this but I know myself and many others on the tour were ready to be back to our hotels hours earlier.

The Hunte’s garden visiting experience was very memorable with awe inspiring plants, birds, insects and the unique garden designs providing tranquility and escapism from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Meeting the charming and knowledgeable Dr Hunte in person was an added bonus and provided an insight to how the garden project came to fruition. The resting places incorporated into the garden are also quirky and interesting, whilst the gift onsite shop sells a variety of nice souvenirs. I highly recommend booking a visit to the gardens, you will definitely be enchanted by the experience.
