I travel quite a bit and do a lot of activities on my trips and this was easily one of my top 5 favorite things I’ve ever done. Easy pickup and transportation to the kennels. They give you a snowsuit and boots to use and also have waterproof mittens if you need them. You don’t need to bundle up more than a normal day. First, you get to meet and pet some of the dogs before you go on the sled and they even see you off by howling as you leave. Then you get to your sled. I went solo and was paired up with another solo traveler. One driver and one passenger. The driver has to pay attention to the dogs, the trail and distance between sleds so they can’t take pics. Good thing is, you get multiple stops to change drivers. It’s pretty exhilarating driving a sled pulled by 6 dogs and the dogs just want to run. When we have to stop, they howl until they get to run again. After the 10-11km tour, we get to have coffee/tea/hot cocoa and cake in a heated tent and talk about the dogs and they answer your questions, if you have any. Then you get to see the puppies!

One of the best things I did in the Tromsø area - a must do if you love dogs and the outdoors. Everything was well organized, fun, and not too far of a drive. Highly recommend!

This tour was hands down the best part of my trip to Tromso. It was well organized and the guides were informative and friendly. We were able to pet/stay with the dogs before and after the sledding experience. I was nervous about driving the sled, but it was easy and fun! The dogs are so strong and fast- such good pups!

We had an absolute BLAST during this adventure. The workers give the entire group a quick lesson on how to use the sled, but it really became intuitive once we were out there exploring! It was hands down a once in a lifetime opportunity; please do this excursion, you won't regret. At the end, we enjoyed a delicious cup of hot chocolate and scrumptious piece of cake (we had chocolate and carrot cake options) and we learned more about the dogs, what they do all year long at the camp, and even got to see some 4-8 week old puppies! This was the highlight of our time in Tromsø.

Apart from Chasing the Northern lights, this is one activity you must do when in Tromso. It’s very fun and manageable if you follow instructions at the briefing on how to muster your sled. The dogs do the rest of the work. The dogs are all happy and excited to run.
