Was a great concert. I loved listening to the music and seeing the period costumes. I’d recommend as a way to feel like you are in old Venice.

We attended a concerto in a beautiful place located in Campo San Salvador in front of the Church of San Salvador. With very good acoustics we enjoyed a magnificent interpretation. The musicians in 18th century costumes gave us a very nice performance, including the first violin, a real virtuoso ... It was truly a wonderful timeless moment to attend the four seasons of Vivaldi, Venetian and wonderful composer.

It was WONDERFUL! It was my first experience at an opera, and it was spectacular. Hoping to bring a couple of groups in the future.

Tonight we went to a performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons by I Musici Veniziani. We spent a little more for skip-the-line tickets with guaranteed seating in the first three rows and it was worth it. The venue is a 16th Century former school which would be better described as a palace. It's an easy, easy walk from the Rialto Bridge area. An impressive facade, grand stone staircase and original frescoes create an immersive ambiance. The smallish concert hall had remarkably good acoustics and the small chamber orchestra (tonight, eight pieces) had a big, balanced sound. All the musicians were dressed in full period costume and powdered wigs. That may sound gimmicky but it was delightfully appropriate given the setting. Before the main event, the orchestra accompanied a really terrific soprano in a few arias. Her emotive, engaging performance included a few elements of humor to captivating effect. I've heard many, many versions of The Four Seasons and there is a special pleasure in hearing it performed by a good, small chamber orchestra. I Musici Veniziani did not disappoint. Their performance was spirited, energetic and exciting. The youngish male soloist was fast, accurate and his playing had an expressive physicality. If he hit a couple of off notes here and there, well, it mattered not one bit. His phrasing included some very welcome improvisational elements as is fitting in a good Baroque performance. And, he was very good. The only possible enhancement would have been if the group was playing period instruments. But why quibble? I would recommend this concert experience to anyone visiting Venice, even non classical music fans. Who doesn't enjoy The Four Seasons? Just do it. I guarantee it will be one of your favorite memories from this magical city. And when the concert lets out, there are plenty of cafés and gelaterias in the area that are open late! What a night. A real highlight of our trip!⁸
