We loved this trip unreservedly! It was all we could expect and more. The price was very fair. The hotels we stayed at were excellent including our dinners and breakfasts, which always offered both Icelandic dishes and more standard European dishes for those with less adventurous palettes. Each stop revealed a special aspect of Iceland’s unique landscape and culture. One hotel was also a ranch breeding Icelandic horses. Another offered rooms in a replica of an Icelandic turf built house. Waterfalls, black sand beaches, glaciers and areas of prior lava fields let us experience the unique features of its land. We touched huge ice crystals on black sand beaches and took a boat ride through icebergs calved from glaciers above. Days were chock full of grand landscapes, walks to waterfalls, noted streams and hot springs. Our driver and guide, Hoskulder, shared a lifetime of stories, events and adventures had by the early Settlers from Norway and their hardships in taming the land. This was the tour I’d waited a lifetime to experience and I was not disappointed. Please book with Fun Tours. You won’t be disappointed.

We had an excellent guide, Hoskuldur. He knew the history of the country telling many interesting stories. He was easy going, flexible. and really knew how to navigate the roads to get us where we need to go in a timely manner. The accommodations and food at all the guesthouses were top notch. We would highly recommend Fun Travel to anyone who wants to see the beauty Iceland has to offer.

At the end of June and into July, our family of 4 booked Fun Travel for a 9 day tour around Iceland. Our tour guide was Jens. He was awaiting our arrival at the airport, on time and ready to get our tour started. We paid a significant amount of money to have a private tour with Fun Travel. We have done many private tours over the years and this one left us feeling, meh. For the money paid, I feel that things could have been a bit more customized and the tour guide should have asked more about our interests and tailored the trip more toward family activities. I probably should have known from the very start as the initial email communication with Jens was poor. Lesson learned. Our accommodations were just ok. There were a few gems amongst others that, given a choice, we would have passed on. I'm not sure I've ever spent so many nights on such uncomfortable beds. As for our transportation, The old Ford van was large and very outdated. The seats were uncomfortable, and it was noisy. The sliding door didn't close properly. At one point in our tour, some of a previously broken (now fixed) window fell out on my daughter's head. Midway through the trip, the transmission went out. We spent half the day cruising at a speedy 45mph. Luckily, Jens was able to find a replacement in the next city. And to our pleasure, it was a much more comfortable ride from there on. On previous tours, our guide(s) never stayed at the same hotel and would try to give us some space at the end of the day. Maybe, in Iceland, there aren't as many options or places to stay, but every night, Jens was at our dinner table... If we wanted to use hotel's amenities, such as the hot tub, it was likely that he would be there too. It seemed as though this tour was "mailed in". We got the feeling that this was the same tour, hotels, restaurants, etc. that Jens has been using for the past 15+ years. Likely, all places he was getting comped for either the stay and/or meals. When we asked about other activities, places to eat, etc. Jens was quick to point out that he hadn't gone to the city or tried new activities or restaurants in years and that it was too hard to keep up. As a tour guide, we definitely expected more. Our children enjoyed the hiking and the beautiful scenic views. Climbing on the rocks, walking on the black sand beaches, and at one stop, walking behind a waterfall. But, for a 10 and 13 year old, they only care to see so many waterfalls... By the end of the tour, the kids would have loved to dial back the waterfalls and dial up the local swimming pools or other local activities. We also enjoyed the Blue Lagoon, the glacier hike, and the boat ride through the glaciers that Fun Travel booked for us. We had many hikes and Jens guided us through them all. One of which was during a torrential down-pour with hail! We thought it was a blast - Jens kept us going and on time. On our last day, we asked to cancel what was planned and to return us to Reykjavik. The night before, we independently booked a lava show and a whale watching tour (again Jens said that he didn't know if they were any good). We saw many whales and an island full of Puffins. It was a perfect way to end our tour. An activity that was novel and exciting for the kids. They were both worth doing, and again, something that I would expect a tour guide would have vetted and/or at least recommended if they were trying to keep up with current activities for customers. We got to see beautiful country side, amazing waterfalls, black sand beaches, lava fields and geysers. Iceland was fantastic. If you decide to book Fun Travel for your adventure, make sure you do your own research and make sure you'll be doing all the activities you want to do.

We were in a group of 11 expecting to see some breathtaking views and enjoy the culture of Iceland. Jens offers a package that helped us get the most of the trip without any concerns with planning the route to ensure we saw so much in our 10 days on the ring tour. Their history is rich, and we learned plenty at each stop, with a few folk tales thrown in to make it interesting. He had to keep us moving because of how short the daylight hours are in November. We had some challenging weather on particular day and Jens was able to get us safely to the next stop.

The 10 Day tour around Iceland was phenomenal. The country is beautiful. Jens was a very good guide. He kept the tour moving and made sure we got to see so many beautiful things. I liked that we were "off the beaten path;" traveling dirt roads over mountains, by fjords, glaciers, oceans, quaint towns. Many times we got to see unique views of natural phenomena. Timing was very good. Jens was able to provide good narrative and information that made the tour more interesting. He knows the countryside and is good at providing history and background. For example, he read small excerpts of amusing folk stories. Being together with a small group was great. No long waits; got to know everyone. Overnight stays were interesting: scenic locations, a taste of different culture, great food. I unequivocally recommend Fun Travel Tours. Take the trip. You will never forget it!

Thoroughly enjoyed this complete tour with a knowledgeable guide. Every guesthouse was different and it was good to see smaller more friendly types of accommodation. The food was included and was always good. We discovered many places off the beaten track that you wouldn't necessarily find if you were travelling on your own. Waterfalls abound, walking behind some of them and getting drenched at others was an added bonus of your own making! Walking is friendly for all ages with reasonable mobility. Experiences such as walking on lava fields and seeing icebergs and glaciers almost within touching distance was all part of the fun. Would recommend this tour with Jens for a good insight into Iceland beyond Reykjavik. It is very good value for money and a fairly full on tour.

We saw almost everything Iceland has to offer: The Northern Lights, Geysers, Waterfalls, Glaciers, Dormant Volcanoes, Interesting Rock Formations, Fjords, Geothermal Vents, Natural Parks, Black Sand Coastlines, and Museums. Accommodations were mainly based at quaint inns in rural areas; all offered delicious dinners and breakfast buffets. Andre, our guide, provided a wealth of knowledge about the country. One bit of advice - bring sturdy shoes for short to medium length hikes plus rain gear.

My husband and I had the opportunity to join some long time friends on the 10 day Iceland Complete tour. It truly was an amazing experience. Jens is very knowledgeable and passionate about sharing the beauty and uniqueness of Iceland. He not only navigated some "interesting" roads, but also made sure to take us off the beaten path to see beautiful waterfalls, a beach with icebergs on it, bubbling mud pots, a lava field that is still warm in places, lush greenery, a black waterfall, and a "windy" volcanic crater. We were also treated to folklore stories that made the scenery even more memorable. We stayed in some very cozy farmhouses and enjoyed delicious meals. All in all, it was the trip of a lifetime and I have already recommended it to friends and family.
