Until the tour I hadn’t fully appreciated the rich history and special culture of this small part of London, nor how powerful a place it holds in the economy. James has an extraordinary depth of knowledge, and what really set him apart was his ability to bring centuries of history to life with engaging stories and fascinating details you simply won’t find in any guidebook. He struck the perfect balance between the City’s ancient past — from its Roman origins to the Great Fire — and its role as one of the world’s most influential financial centres today. The route was thoughtfully planned, weaving through hidden courtyards, centuries-old churches, and iconic landmarks, revealing layers of the City that most people walk past without a second glance. James was also wonderfully accommodating of questions, no matter how obscure, and always had a compelling answer ready. Whether you’re a Londoner who thinks they know the city or a first-time visitor, this tour will genuinely surprise you. I left with a completely new appreciation for that famous Square Mile and found myself pointing out details to friends for weeks afterwards. Highly, highly recommended — don’t miss it.
