Come along on a scenic drive and freshwater fishing excursion in beautiful Hoonah. With abundant wildlife in this area, keep your cameras ready for potential wildlife sightings. Brown bears, bald eagles, Sitka blacktail deer, ducks, geese, and more are often sighted throughout Southeast Alaska's rainforest. Each angler is equipped with their own rod & reel, and wading gear then professionally guided to have an Alaskan wilderness experience of a lifetime. After a beautiful scenic drive and a short hike, you will arrive at the destined salmon spawning grounds. As with everything in the wilds of Alaska, the fish runs are wild and seasonal. Dolly Varden Char and Cutthroat Trout can be found throughout the summer season. Pink and Chum Salmon run from late June through September, and Silver Salmon from late August through October. The island is home to the densest population of brown bears in all the world. Although there is never any guarantee that visitors will encounter bears, up close encounters with brown bears are common. Not to worry though, your guide has many years of experience living in close proximity with the island's wildlife, and our guest's safety is a #1 priority.

The best fishing experience of my life (including other fishing expeditions in Alaska). Our group caught 50+ salmon over 2-3 hours. The guides were great and attentive as we caught the fish.

I booked this excursion for my husband, who has wanted to do stream fishing in Icy Strait for 11 years, since the last time we visited Alaska in 2014. He took our 12 year old son, his father, brother, and uncle. They each has such an amazing time. It was raining off and on, but it didn't affect their experience one bit, perhaps it even enhanced it. I think this will be an experience they will relive for years to come. My son just finished his fly fishing merit badge in Boy Scouts and he was the youngest and only one from our group to fly fish! He was so proud and will have bragging rights for a very long time. They each caught so many salmon and trout they lost count. A core memory for sure! Book early and don't miss out on this adventure!

After a small snafu with pick up we had a fantastic day fishing with Chris! My husband got to fly and spinner fish which he loved! I am a very novice fisher and learned quickly how to cast. We each caught a dozen or so fish and even got to see a bear catch one about 50 yards from us! It was an amazing experience! Outstanding! Highly recommend!

Wonderful day salmon fishing with our guides Chris and Jack. My husband and I caught so many salmon! Chris and Jack were very helpful and friendly. That morning our brother became ill and wasn’t able to attend. A refund was offered, without us asking about it. Shows what a great family company this is. Pickup and dropoff at ship were very easy and communication was good. This is our second time fishing with Game Creek guides. It was the highlight of our Alaska trip. We highly recommend them!

My family had a great time on this excursion. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took good care of us. The equipment was great and all provided for us. We had to drive a ways to get to the stream but we enjoyed the scenery. The salmon were a little late this year so we didn't get to fish for any but had good luck with other fish. The rains the night before caused the river to run very high and our guide almost had to cancel but he made it work despite the conditions and we enjoyed ourselves. It would have been smart to bring a change of clothes with us because one of my boys got wet. Our guide lent him his dry coat and we were very greatful. This is a catch and release fishing experience and you need to purchase your own fishing license for 17 and above before you go. Internet is bad so do it before you travel. We would definitely recommend this tour guide and trip to others that want to experience fishing in an Alaskan river.

Lucas took us to his secret spot to fish for halibut and it was non stop action!! I only went because of my son and was not interested in fishing, but took part simply because I already paid and was there. In the end, I didn’t even get a break, it was fish after fish! My son was having the best time of his life! Lucas was soooo helpful, friendly and easy to talk to! Highly recommend for anyone that is interested in halibut fishing!!

Ocean fishing in Alaska has been on my "to do" list for a lot of years now. I had an image in my head of filling an ice chest full of halibut and sending it home for the family. Things have become tightly regulated recently to where you can only keep one halibut per person per day and it has to fall within strict size requirements. Probably for the better to keep the population healthy. I chose a trip with Game Creek Guides because I would be docking in "Icy Straight Point" (Hoonah) for the day and wanted to be able to keep what I caught. I was sailing with NCL and all of the charters through the ship made you catch and release. I thought that my wife and kids would want to fish with me, but they all opted to stay on the boat so my mom and I embarked on this adventure. Lukas picked us and four others up on time at the adventure hub and took us the mile or so into town. He had the boat prepped and ready to go so we quickly head out after a safety briefing. We weren't too far out when he said that we would give it a go, so we all prepped our lines and dropped in. We had a few bites here and there but he felt like we should be getting more so we moved a bit and dropped back in. Now everyone was getting hits, pulling in fish between 30 and 36". We drifted for a bit and everyone who wanted to keep fishing kept pulling in fish non-stop. We had plenty of selection on what we wanted to keep and what we wanted to throw back. Lukas knew exactly where to go to find the fish and kept it fun throughout the outing. While returning Lukas told us about how the cruise lines are attracting a lot of people from outside the area to start doing fishing charters. Lukas was born and raised in the area and has been running fishing charters for over 20 years. Go with the local, go with the best, go with Game Creek Guides.
