Our Inspector Morse's Oxford tours are usually much smaller & thus more personalised than our competitor's.
See Inspector Morse's Oxford as well as Lewis and Endeavour filming locations on this approximately 2-hour private Oxford walking tour, as you explore the making of this famous character and the TV series. Gain insights into not just the detective but also what life is like to study and work at Oxford university, as you see some of the most famous Oxford sights.
Tour includes entry inside either Wadham, St Johns, Exeter or Balliol college- presuming at least one of these colleges is open.
Our primary guide, Tom, averages a 5 star review from 50% of all his clients who book this tour, as Tom has an incredible knowledge and passion for the subject.

Please arrive 5 minutes early for your tour at our meeting point. If you arrive more than 5 minutes later than the scheduled tour, then you will likely forfeit and lose your booking as it interrupts the guide and other customers, if we are trying to find you after a guide has started and left the meeting point.
INFO FOR DRIVERS AND PARKING:
If you are driving, then please allow extra 30-60 minutes over whatever time you think it will take you to get here. Oxford is NOT car friendly and it is congested roads and hard to find parking spaces....unless you park at the sign posted 'park and rides' on edge of town on any major road into the city and hop on their buses into city centre. The park and ride buses leave every 15 or every 30 minutes and take anything from 10 min to 30 min (depending on traffic) to reach city centre. So if you are going to drive, then please assume you should be aiming to park your car about one hour before your tour starts.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
We actually recommend instead using the much faster and reliable train services but again please aim to arrive about an hour or earlier before your tour starts as trains can be delayed and the train and coach station are about 15 minutes walk from our meeting point. There is also the coach service from London called the Oxford Tube which leaves every half hour or more but it can take much longer than its advertised 105 minute journey time. It drops you off either at High street Oxford or Gloucester Green coach station. It's quicker to ask to get off on High street near Carfax tower, then it's a 10 minutes walk to Broad street.
Our marginally higher ticket price reflects the special quality of typically having smaller groups than our competitors- average numbers is 2-4 persons only.
Infants 5 and under can go on this tour free of charge but this tour is NOT aimed at children
During Xmas holiday period or on dates of university graduation dates, we may propose changing slightly the tour start time to 1pm or to 11am, if we think it will make it easier to get into colleges, during restricted opening times. We will advise at time of booking and seek your approval to make any changes to the start time.
Please note that as the university colleges are private institutions, we can't always guarantee entry to colleges but it is very rare that we cannot get entry into at least 1 or 2 colleges on the tour. Please take note of any advertised university graduation dates mentioned below, as those dates can have less options of colleges to visit.
GRADUATION DATES + XMAS + UNIVERSITY OPEN DAYS:
We cannot guarantee entry into colleges on graduation dates or during Xmas vacation period, so please consult 'Exclusions' section for details of any such dates.

A lovely tour with Renata, the best of guides. We visited so many places with connection to all three series. Renata knew so much and brought back so many memories. Also a lot of information about Oxford in general.

I had a wonderful experience. Tom was much more than a guide, he wasn’t watching the clock. In fact we spent the entire afternoon together chatting, leisurely taking in the history and sharing fabulous libations at wonderful pubs of which Morse would have certainly approved. Tom’s knowledge of Oxford and Morse were beyond exemplary and I will treasure the memory. Thank you Tom, I hope our paths cross again, it was a pleasure and an honor and you have my highest recommendation!

Booked the Morse Tour and struck gold with Tom as our guide—part detective, part historian, all legend! He dished out Morse trivia with the precision of a crime scene investigation, while sneaking in Oxford’s rich history, college sneak peeks, and shoutouts to alumni like CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien. The cherry on top? After a lovely walk in the Autumn sunshine Tom guided us to the best pint of London Pride in Oxford—better than cracking a case! Highly recommended—book it before Tom retires to solve crimes full-time!

We had a wonderful guide in Renata. She was knowledgeable, interesting, funny and obviously had a great love for Oxford. Her enthusiasm for her subject matter just shone through. Our group had the most marvellous afternoon with her as she chatted animatedly throughout the tour. Can’t fault her at all. Thank you Renata.

We booked the Morse tour last minute and didn’t really know what to expect! In the event the tour was wonderful thanks to our guide Tom who has an amazing knowledge of not only the all the Morse, Endeavour and Lewis series but also fantastic in depth knowledge of all the Oxford colleges, their history and notable alumni with lots of interesting facts and anecdotes. The couple of hours we spent with Tom were thoroughly entertaining and was the highlight of our visit to Oxford! Highly recommended!

Excellent and very informative tour. Tom was knowledgeable not just about all things Morse but the literary and historical aspects of Oxford. Booked for a Morse fan for birthday and Tom did not disappoint. The small group of 6 made sure that the tour was tailored to our interests. Thank you!
