⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Highland Experience! This was one of the highlights of our cruise and an absolutely fantastic way to experience the Scottish Highlands. The itinerary was perfectly planned, with wonderful stops at Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns, Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness, and the Highland cows. Every location was beautiful, interesting, and rich in history. What truly made the day exceptional was our guide, Lorraine. She was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about sharing the history, culture, and stories of the Highlands. Her commentary throughout the day was both informative and entertaining, bringing each stop to life. Lorraine's warm personality, sense of humor, and attention to every guest made the experience feel personal and relaxed. She managed the timing perfectly, ensuring we had plenty of time to enjoy each location while still fitting everything into the day without ever feeling rushed. Her local knowledge and enthusiasm added so much to the tour. If you're visiting Invergordon and looking for a memorable shore excursion, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. A huge thank you to Lorraine for making our day so special.

This tour covered a surprising amount of ground very quickly and thoroughly. Our guide Lorraine gave a close to continuous stream of information before and after each site, while working hard to get us places ahead of the large tour buses so we wouldn’t be stuck behind large groups. And she and Avril’s Tours overall were very sensitive to our cruise ship’s late arrival and planned departure times. Finding the small group just outside the port entrance was a breeze. One suggestion they didn’t make but could have was for us to buy entry tickets to Cawdor Castle online ahead of time. I did, and it made getting through the admission line very fast. Tickets weren’t needed for the parts of Culloden we spent time at, although we do regret not being able to fit the visitor center in as well. Highly Recommended!!!

We took this excursion based on the pick and drop off point at Inverness cruise ship port. At no fault to the guide, we had a late start due to UK Immigrations verifying that all the people on the ship had their ETA. So imagine a 1,000 people getting in line to do this. We were returned with plenty of time to spare. The guide was pleasant. We were fortunate to have a beautiful warm sunny day! Not sure seeing the battle field was worth it, would have preferred a different historical site/another castle.

Our guide Lorraine was excellent. She safely took us to all the sights we wanted to see. And she shared a lot of information with us. We were lucky to have her all to ourselves. We did not expect that. And thus, Lorraine was able to cater to us individually. Simply perfect! Once again, a heartfelt thank you to Lorraine for the wonderful day in Invergordon.

Avril’s Travels was absolutely the best! Small tour group to all the best spots. You are at all the stops just the right amount of time for the day. And you will be back on the ship in plenty of time. If you’re on the fence don’t hesitate….

Our tour guide made us want to join the Ross Clan or at least spend time tending Jamie Frazier (our favorite Highland cow). She seemed willing and anxious to lend a hand at Cullidon Battle Field to help her countrymen . Her humor and storyteling were infectious. Thanks Lorraine Caren and Richard Etengoff May 4,2026

We had Lorraine for our tour guide. She was entertaining and gave us a lot of historical information as well as a local perspective. The tour group is well organized and managed to get us to places ahead of the big tour buses so things were not crowded. We didn't feel rushed and got to see quite a lot.
