Bolungarvik

Just a short drive from Ísafjörður through a scenic mountain tunnel lies Bolungarvík, one of Iceland’s northernmost fishing villages. Here, we visit the Ósvör Maritime Museum, a full-scale replica of a 19th-century fishing outpost. With turf-roofed huts, drying racks, and traditional rowboats, this open-air museum offers a vivid glimpse into the harsh but resilient life of early Icelandic fishermen. The ocean views and coastal cliffs add a dramatic backdrop to this step back in time.

We were unable to make this tour due to our cruise ship skipping the port of Isafjordur. We encountered rough seas between Norway and Iceland so the ship had to slow down, making us a half day late for Reykjavik. Thus the domino effect! So disappointed about the change of itinerary but Valkyrie Tours were prompt to respond and hopefully I’ll see the refund shortly.

Jake was an outstanding tour guide. He made the entire tour very interesting and was extremely informative. The tour really highlights the extreme diversity of Iceland.

We had a wonderful tour with Stefan today with our 13-member family group. We had a 70-year age range between the youngest member and the oldest member of our group, and Stefan was easily able to accommodate our range of activity levels. It was very well-paced so we didn’t feel too rushed as a large group. We also learned a lot about Icelandic history, culture, and music. Glad we went with this tour over one of the standard cruise ship ones— highly recommend!

Jake was an excellent tour guide. He told us so much about the area on our way to the waterfall and other stops. He used a microphone so everyone could hear well. It was a small group so it felt like a private tour. We highly recommend this tour.

We visited Isafjordur Iceland on a Celebrity Cruise. Anna met us at the dock for Valkyrie Tours and was our tour guide. Our first impressions were not wrong. Anna was a delight. She was professional, happy and bubbly and very interesting. She was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and all the places in-between. Would recommend her and Valkyrie in a heartbeat.

We had a great time with Valkyrie tours in the Westfjords. Iceland is amazing and our guide Jake made it even more special.He is kind, funny and very knowledgeable about Iceland. He answered all our questions (even the dumb ones) with kindness and patience. I really appreciated how we never felt rushed or herded as a group as well. Thank you so much Valkyrie tours. We will be back!

Our multigenerational family of 11 people ages 70 to 2 years old just returned from a week in Iceland. We traveled in different areas throughout the country with Jake & his associates. They were organized, on time, accommodating & knowledgeable. Jake personally helped me with planning & ideas to suit our family who had various interests.
