Fairy Pools
Our first stop will take us to the world-famous Fairy Pools. We aim to get her earlier than the crowds so that you can have a more enjoyable experience. These crystal-clear rock pools are fed and connected by a series of waterfalls, originating from the nearby Black Cuillin Mountains. We will allow around 90 minutes to explore the fairy pools. The initial walk is up hill and of moderate intensity, so this part of the trip will not be suitable for those with mobility issues. It will take around 15-20 minutes to walk to the first of the fairy pools from the carpark. There are more pools to explore further up the path. If you don’t feel that the fairy pool walk is for you, then our driver will take you to an alternative location not far away!
Sligachan Old Bridge
Our next stop on the Isle of Skye will take us to an area filled with folklore and natural beauty. Wash your face in the magical water at Sligachan bridge or simply marvel at the imposing Cuillin Mountain Ridge behind. We will also show you some of the best angles for getting an unbelievable photo. (That’s if the misty isle doesn’t live up to its name and swallow the mountains!)

We recently went on The Tartan Trailblazer tour of Isle of Skye. Our guide Finella was phenomenal! She was friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable. You could easily tell how passionate she was for her love of Skye and Scotland! Unfortunately, it was rainy that day, and much of the scenery was under cloud cover-but we, and she made the best of the day. We loved all the stories, music and local history of this magical island-It was truly a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this tour!

We had an amazing day out with Fin! She was knowledgeable, personable and charming. She shared local music, stories , history and snacks with us. them! She pivoted our itinerary for the weather . It was a rainy day and windy but she made it an enjoyable adventure. The communication leading up to the tour and follow up afterward was great. They accommodated our family size with a smaller tour option. A woman owned company that grew organically out of Covid hiking is making lemonade out of lemons. Cheers to these ladies!

I booked this tour on a whim, last minute, and I'm so happy it worked out! Michelle and Fin were so lovely to be around. They were engaging, and funny, and really created a special day on Skye! The tour was thoughtfully put together, right down to the snacks, and music. I loved the history, and stories behind the songs they played while driving. I was able to see some places that would have been challenging to get to without a car. The day also had a nice pace to it, with time to enjoy the fairy pools, and other stops. It didn't feel like you were being rushed from place to place. We even had time for a couple of extra stops along the way! If you only have a couple of days on Skye this is great tour to get a sense of the beauty of Skye, if you have more time, it's a great trip to introduce you to areas to you may want to go back to visit. Michelle and Fin even recommended some hikes around the island too. I'd definitely book with them again! Thank you Michelle, and Fin

Fin and Michelle are hands down best driver and guild for any day tours. Unlike big company whose drivers act as the guild driving in narrow and winding roads, they each focus on their job which entertained and took care of us and made us feel safe on the road. My husband loved the music Fin introduced on the way from a to b. We both enjoyed the Scotland snacks. They went out of their way to drop off 5 people in order to save them an half hour bus trip from Porter to their airbnb house. When they learned we are having trouble to book a restaurant for dinner, Fin called her brother and his girlfriend to book us a dinner reservation in Portree. They went far and beyond to help all of us. We truly appreciate them!

A wonderful experience. The guide was very friendly, kind, and knowledgeable, and the driver was excellent. They showed us many of Skye's most beautiful spots, letting us discover the island's natural wonders, providing detailed information about each location, and including some traditional Scottish songs along the longer stretches of the trip. I'm completely satisfied; it was a wonderful day, and thanks to them, we were able to truly appreciate everything.

Excellent personal tour from Inverness to Isle of Skye ! What a great personality Finella has - she was so enthusiastic to show us around her home country. Along the way, she was very informative about the history and highlights of the Jacobites and the Scottish as well as entertaining us with many folktales- including Nessie! She even played some traditional Scottish music as we were driving over the bridge to Isle of Skye. We stopped for photos of the beautiful Eilean Donan Castle and had an opportunity to feed the Harry coos. She waited for us as we hiked the Fairy Pools - breathtaking scenery! Finella provided us with their local Irn Brew and some delicious Scottish tea cakes to take home with us. Would highly recommend Tartan Trailblazer Tours!

It took me so long to write this review because I had so much (too much!) to say that it took two weeks just to condense it into something you (the next lucky adventurer) would actually read. I hope you’ll stick around long enough for me to convince you why you must book this tour. Before we begin, I am not sponsored — just smitten. If Michelle and Fin ever start a fan club, sign me up as President. These two aren’t just guides — they’re storytellers, DJs, snack dealers, language teachers, and comedians that rival professionals, all rolled into one unstoppable Highland dream team. What makes them special? Well, a lot of things — but in terms of guides, they’ve cracked the code. They actually split the jobs. Michelle drives like a guardian angel on winding Highland roads, while Fin fills the air with stories, history, and jokes. It feels safer, smoother, and infinitely more fun than the big-name tours where the poor driver has to do it all. With these two, you’re free to relax, laugh, and soak up every moment and every picturesque landscape. And then come the extras: snacks appearing like gifts from the gods, music that turned our little bus into a rolling ceilidh, and a crash course in Scottish slang that had us practicing like eager school kids. (Yes, I’ll be calling my kids “wee bairns” until they stage a mutiny.) Even more impressive? Michelle and Fin took our family’s list of over 15 “must-sees” and curated a personal itinerary that fit our group of five perfectly. They factored in our physical capabilities, kept the pace just right, and still managed to cross nearly every item off our bucket list within reason. They knew exactly where to go for the best views while steering us clear of the tourist traps and crowded stops — giving us those “wow” moments without the chaos. This is also one of the few tours that will start from either Skye or Inverness — a rare option that gave us so much more bang for our buck, sparing us the 4+ hours of wasted drive time most companies require (and charge you for). And because they’re such great craic, they even cheered us on while we swam in the freezing-cold Fairy Pools. They thought of everything — even arranging the timing so we could change into swimsuits and wisely scheduling it for the end of the day. Thoughtful doesn’t even begin to cover it. Michelle and Fin don’t just show you Scotland — they share Scotland and their heart and soul. You leave with new words in your speech, new songs in your head, and new friends in your heart. By the end of the day, we weren’t just tourists — we were honorary Highlanders (at least in our own heads). This isn’t Rabbie’s. It isn’t corporate. It’s two remarkable women who love Scotland so much they can’t help but share it with you. Women-owned, local, and absolutely unforgettable. If you’re lucky enough to snag a spot with Michelle and Fin, don’t hesitate. This is Scotland at its most personal and its most magical. 10/10 — highly recommend.
