Important Note regarding Maligne Canyon Waterfalls: Due to damage caused by last summer’s wildfire, access to Maligne Canyon is currently closed by Parks Canada for infrastructure repairs to ensure visitor safety. If these repairs are not completed prior to your selected tour date, the short walk to view waterfalls in Maligne Canyon will not be possible. In this case, the tour will proceed with a slightly altered itinerary, offering alternative stops to showcase the area’s unique beauty. This includes a visit to Maligne Lookout, where you can view the dramatically changed landscape from a high vantage point, and additional time at Medicine Lake, featuring a short walk along the shore for stunning perspectives of the lake surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. Please rest assured that the tour length and price remain unchanged, and the overall experience will still provide incredible opportunities to explore and learn about the Maligne Valley’s natural wonders.

The boat ride to spirit island was definitely the highlight of the trip. The wildlife portion was simply driving from our original destination to the boat and back while hoping to spot something along the way. It was informative but overpriced for what we did.

Our tour guide, Jake, made our trip memorable. He was very personable, funny, and a fountain of knowledge. We even lucked out and saw some elk.

Firstly, Sam the guide was excellent. His knowledge and enthusiasm for nature is outstanding. Unfortunately the actual tour could be summarised as a brisk drive to the boat and a 25 minute fast boat each way to see an "island". After the boat trip we had to head briskly back in order for Sam to pick up his next tour. We did stop a couple of times to take photos of elk out the window and get out to see ospreys. Maybe it was our misunderstanding, but we expected to be taken to more wildlife spotting areas and a slow cruise looking for wildlife along the lake shore. This trip is definitely not worth the cost. I believe there is a cheaper option that doesn't include the boat. Talking to other guests who had done the morning or evening wildlife trips they seemed much better if you are looking for wildlife. One of the questions in this review is would you recommend this trip to friends. That depends what the friends are looking for - if you want a boat cruise on a scenic lake then possibly yes (but I'm sure there are cheaper options elsewhere), however if you're looking for wildlife (as the tour title claims) then I would answer No. To recap, Sam is excellent and the tour structure is not his fault.

My wife and our friends loved this tour. Our tour guide, Sam, was exceptional. His knowledge and passion for the wildlife and the area was fantastic, and his storytelling brought things to life. Maligne Lake was as beautiful as the pictures. I highly recommend this tour!
