What To Expect
We will start driving to Faifa Mountains in the morning. The mountains are located in Jazan Province, southwest Saudi Arabia. This group of mountains constitutes a part of the Sarawat range and unlike many other mountains in Saudi Arabia, the temperature of Fifa mountains is generally moderate. The jagged rock formations are covered with green flora and have many agricultural terraces. The various fields scattered around the mountains are known for their very high peaks and green terraces. Moreover, the most famous crops planted in the fields are coffee and maize. The mountains twist around each other. Thus, from a distance, the mountains appear as one pyramid-shaped mountain.
Jazan
Jazan is a port city and the capital of the Jizan Region, which lies in the southwest corner of Saudi Arabia. Jazan City is situated on the coast of the Red Sea and serves large agriculture. The area is noted for its high-quality production of tropical fruits like mango, figs, and papaya.

Faifa Mountains - Stunning and Memorable

5.00Our tour of the Faifa mountains was the second day of our two-day tour, following the previous day - a wonderful visit to the Farasan Islands. We started our tour early in the morning, following the ferry ride from Farasan. This was a private tour; just my wife and I and our tour guide, Dr. Osama - an AI Professor. The drive to the Faifa mountains took about two hours, and the climb up into the mountains with the steep mountain roads and the views of the green terraces hillsides was simply spectacular and very memorable. Our visit included a stop at a hotel cafe with a spectacular view and great coffee and karak chai, a short hike, to another view point, a gorgeous hike along some of the terraces where we saw the region’s famous coffee growing as well as climbing into an ancient watch tower. We finished off with a very tasty lunch at a local traditional restaurant serving typical Yemeni-style food - yum! After the drive back, Dr. Osama showed us the northern part of Jazan, including his university campus and the new corniche park, where we enjoyed some sunset views along the edge of the Red Sea. By this time, considering our pre-dawn start on Farasan Island, we were ready to head to the airport for our trip home. Dr Osama was a great host and we had some very interesting conversations while we were on this amazing visit. The Faifa mountains and its villages and farms set out across the terraced mountainsides are unique and amazing - a very memorable trip.

5.00A packed day exploring the Gazan province, seeing sights you wouldn’t believe are from Saudi Arabia. During this taster day, we saw plains, plantations and mountains. Faoud is a friendly guide with top notch Saudi hospitality and etiquette. Doing the tour during Ramadan is extra special because the city comes alive in the night.
