Chantal was fantastic! She knew so much about the area, the trees, and the process involved in cork production. She also gave us some great tips about other things to explore in the region.

Our guide was great. Answered all our questions, careful driver, and very helpful. The wine tasting was very nice and the lunch delicious. They were happy to provide other recommendations about area (including a great pottery store).

We scheduled an afternoon tour with corktrekking and met them at their warehouse in Redondo. It was just my husband and I with the tour guide Chantal. First Chantal shuttled us over to a local restaurant where we had a delicious meal with other local patrons. After our meal, Chantal picked us back up and we headed out to the farm. We went down country roads in the company car, windows down. We had beautiful blue skies, but it was a hot day, the air blowing in felt good. We parked the car at the farm and began our walk. Chantal was a knowledgeable guide. She told us all about the farm, the trees, and the other animals living on the farm. We learned how cork is harvested, how often, and who has this rare harvesting skill. It was our first time in Portugal, and Chantal also answered lots of questions about what it's like to live there. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, and we topped it off with a wine tasting back at the warehouse afterward. Thank you for an enjoyable afternoon on the cork farm! Attached is the photo that Chantal took of us under a cork tree.

My determination to take in this tour was well worth it! Thank you Joana for your prompt replies. Thank you Celino for accommodating us with an earlier start. We appreciated the fact that both of you are from the area and are clearly passionate about what you do. We learned so much and a bit of rain didn't dampen our enthusiasm! This was one of our highlights in our independent five week trip all over Portugal.

We very much enjoyed every part of our tour, including: -enjoyable and scenic drive from Lisbon -unique landscape at the farm -our tour guide Joana was highly knowledgeable and very personable. She made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. -interesting to learn about cork trees and their history, as well as grape and olive production in the area -excellent lunch at a nearby restaurant where we happened to meet the farm owner Philip. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone

Really fun being in the back of a classic 4x4 Jeep and learning so much about the Alentejo region, cork, and wine. All our questions were answered. Simple wine tasting with Iberian Ham and regional cheese, and lunch at a local spot completed the experience. Joana was an excellent tour guide, and she knew her stuff. Quite the ambassador and a true asset for the company.

Joanna was an amazing tour guide and host! She shared both historical and current day practices with cork stripping and the wineries. We tasted samples of wines produced estate and later enjoyed a feast- what would have been served to the cork strippers. This tour is a must see! Joanna did such an amazing job, she deserves a raise 😉

This excursion has been the highlight of our holiday in Portugal. We were a little apprehensive about taking our teenagers to a wine tasting and around a cork farm but we all had a great day. We were collected in a jeep from our hotel in Evora by Joana who took us to the farm, gave us a history of the vineyard and told us all about the cork industry which was fascinating. Our 12 year son particularly enjoyed hearing about the stripping process (yes the workers harvesting the cork are called strippers!). We were then taken to the family’s wine factory for a tasting and the wines and tapas were delicious (our kids were given juice). We then finished up by having some of the specialities and wine in a local restaurant before being dropped back at the hotel (which was a good job as we were over the drink drive limit by this stage). Joana is an excellent guide, speaks perfect English and knew so much about the local industries. If you are looking for a way to get those teenagers off screens and have a lovely family day out, then book this trip!
