Take a thrilling ride through Joshua Tree National Park in a comfortable open-air Hummer. Please note: this tour is unavailable December–February due to frigid high-elevation temps. During these months take our Joshua Tree Scenic Tour in our heated van. It’s often 20–30°F cooler in the park—dress in layers!
Depart from the Palm Springs Art Museum at 8:30 am (with a scenic, air-conditioned shuttle ride) or save with our Yucca Valley Welcome Center departure where the open-air portion begins. The full tour lasts about 5 hours when taking our shuttle.

Temperatures are about 20 to 30° cooler in the higher elevations so we recommend wearing layered clothing.
Wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes and light, layered clothing in the summer and warmer clothing in the winter

What To Expect
Joshua Tree National Park
Our shuttle van will take you to the city of Joshua Tree where we trade for our H-1 Military Hummer to complete your adventure. We climb to the top of a breathtaking overlook called Keys Point that will give you a stunning view of the valley below and a view that stretches all the way to Mexico.
Keys View
Gawk at a view that stretches for hundreds of miles. From this high point in Joshua Tree you can see as far as the Salton Sea and all the way down to Mexico on a clear day. You might even be able to make out your hotel on this escarpment that borders the famous San Andreas Fault. Look below this ledge we will stop at and you will see the fault line itself which stretches for over 800 miles.

Duration: 5 hours: Includes a shuttle service pickup from the Palm Springs Art Museum every morning at 8:30 am. and returns about 1:30 pm H1 Hummer: A van will shuttle you from the Palm Springs Museum to an open air military Hummer in Joshua Tree. Returns about 1:30 pm

3.00There were 9 of us in the open air Hummer and, given the time it takes to get inside the park, the actual tour was a bit over 2 hours. So I felt the cost was high. The tour guide was quite knowledgeable and pleasant. When I question him regarding the southern end of the San Andreas Fault, however, his answer wasn’t accurate (as I looked it up later). The tour also felt rushed at times. The sights were lovely and more time for pictures, questions, etc. would have increased the value. Overall, I am glad I went but don’t know that I would recommend this tour.

5.00There is some hiking mostly on flat trails. Drivers are very knowledgeable about the geology. The tour takes place in the High Desert elevation about 4800’. It was cool in May and they put us in vans instead hummers. Kind of bummer but glad we weren’t freezing! It was very windy. Great experience and would love to explore some more!
