What To Expect
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple. The Royal Palace of Kandy (known as Mahawàsala), located to the north of the Temple of the Tooth (Daladà Màligàwa) in Kandy, was the royal residence of the Sri Lankan monarchy of the Kingdom of Kandy in Sri Lanka. The last king to reside in it was King Sri Vikrama Rajasinha (1798-1815). Once part of a large palace complex that included the King's Palace (Raja Wasala), Royal Audience Hall (Magul Maduwa), Queen's Palace (Meda Wasala), King's Harem Quarters (Palle Vahale) and Queen's Bathing Pavilion (Ulpange), together with the Temple of the Tooth (Dalada Maligawa). Adjacent to the Royal Palace is the Victorian era building that until recently housed Kandy High Court.
Royal Botanical Gardens
Peradeniya are about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy in the Central Province of Sri Lanka.It is near the Mahaweli River (the longest in Sri Lanka). It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees.Attached to it is the National Herbarium of Sri Lanka. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres (0.59 km2), at 460 meters above sea level, and with a 200-day annual rainfall.

5.00We enjoyed a wonderful tour of Kandy, taking advantage of the day starting 6 am, and after a comfortable trip in our air-conditioned rocket we could visit the Temple of the tooth, the orphanage of elephants, the royal botanical garden and the garden of spices and herbs, that we found on the way to the orphanage ... We also visited the gem museum and we could enjoy the cuisine of Kandy, finishing our walk when we arrived in Colombo at about 9:00 p.m.
