What To Expect
Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur
Kartarpur is a town in Punjab, Pakistan, located in the tehsil Shakargarh, District Narowal. It is supposed to have been created by the first guru of Sikhism, Guru Nanak, who built the first Sikh commune, on the right bank of the Ravi River. However, it’s a visa-free border crossing and religious corridor that connects Pakistan's Gurdwara Darbar Sahib with India's Gurudwara Dera Baba Nanak. Without a visa, worshippers from India can visit the gurdwara at Kartarpur, Pakistan, which is about 4.7 kilometers (2.9 miles) from the India–Pakistan border. Pakistani Sikhs, on the other hand, are unable to use the border crossing and cannot visit Dera Baba Nanak on the Indian side unless they first get an Indian visa or work there.

5.00This tour is exclusively meant to visit the gurdwara in Kartarpur Corridor, which takes about 3 hours to reach from Lahore. Though there's only one destination for this tour, it's totally worth it because the gurdwara is stunning and picturesque. The free langar meals are also a must-try. In addition, the land travel to Kartarpur gives you a glimpse of the fascinating rural side of Pakistan. I am grateful for my guide Abdul Rahman, as well as the driver, for being part of this experience. It turned out smoothly, very unforgettable, and full of realizations.

5.00Kartarpur is an interesting pilgrimage attraction for the Siths. Also, during the trip, you go through smaller villages and see the lower-class living standards, for example, young shepherds with their packs of sheep. The guides were helpful and professional; you can wish for anything from them. For example, I asked them to introduce me to the paan (a mild chewable stimulant made of betel nuts widely used in southern Asia), and they found me a store where to buy it. In this intimate tour, they will get you from your location with a flexible timetable. Rather than going alone, this is an easy way to explore the Indian border. I recommend it, especially if you are visiting Pakistan for the first time. Also, if you travel longer in the region, this is a safe first-hand experience to familiarize yourself with the country before going completely solo.
