You can’t beat a walking track that’s been built with the purpose of showing off the very best features of Fiordland. The Kepler Track was custom-built for pure hiking pleasure. Its alpine vistas, rugged high country, deep gorges and tall beech forests make the Kepler one of our favourite NZ Must Do’s.
Kepler Track highlights
Climb to the peak of Mount Luxmore, 1472m, for a birds-eye view of Lake Te Anau & the town. Explore the stunning stalactites and stalagmites of the Luxmore Caves and soak up the beauty of grand alpine views that stretch on for miles. Hike through golden tussock high country and tall Beech Forests; and at night, listen for the sound of the morepork, a tiny native owl, or shrill whistles from the Brown Kiwi. The quintessential Fiordland hiking experience!

4.00Broadbay to Luxmore course was a boring track with absolutely no views. We only did the 4-hour return trip because no views at all. It was a somewhat tedious and difficult uphill course with no scenery whatsoever.

5.00Very good experience. Boat driver was very friendly and on time. Strongly suggest booking beforehand as boat can only take 15 max and will quickly fill up.

5.00Excellent service. Kind and enjoyable conversation with coxswain. They were able to take us on the return service early when we arrived back early from our adventure.
Good but don't use the meeting point on TripAdvisor as the jetty is actually by the roundabout.

5.00The crossing was good with a friendly and knowledgeable skipper. Don't trust the meeting point location on Tripadvisor. Look for the signs by the roundabout where the jetties are or find the jetty location in other mapping apps.

5.00Skipper was very helpful, letting us know where to go for long term parking. He even offered to store our packs on the boat if we dropped them off. As we were early for our 8.30 am trip, he let us on the 8.00 crossing (not advertised, as only seasonal).

5.00I booked 2 round trips and accidently also bought 2 extra 1-way's across from Te Anau to Brod Bay. I mentioned it to our boat skipper. By the time we got back to our hotel a half hour later, Christine had actually already reached out to me offering a refund. I told her I was so impressed by the quick and proactive customer service, to not worry about any refund ($60 NZD). She responded they didn't want money 'they didn't earn', and insisted on refunding the money. I can't remember last time I've had that type of positive customer experience.
