We went kayaking while on our Alaska cruise, and to be honest, the day started off terrible. The weather was so rough that everyone was surprised the trip wasn’t cancelled. Even though we started late, Jacob and Gavin completely turned the day around and made us feel genuinely special from the moment we got going. Both guides were knowledgeable and informative, but laid-back enough that it never felt like a lecture. They struck the perfect balance between teaching, safety, and fun, which made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable despite the conditions. And yes—like so many before us—we saw a whale! Not just once, but three times while we were out on the water. It was definitely intimidating at first, but Jacob and Gavin kept the focus on learning and enjoying the moment, which made it unforgettable rather than scary. On top of that, we spotted over 20 eagles and an abundance of seal life throughout the trip. What started as a questionable weather day turned into an absolutely incredible experience. What a great trip—huge thanks to Jacob and Gavin for making it so memorable! 🛶🐋🦅

We had a fantastic time doing the Eagle Island Sea Kayaking. We originally booked this with the cruise line but cancelled it with them to book directly. They contact us before we arrived and advised that we would be joining the NCL group as we were the only two people to book directly. The Kayaking was great and we saw quite a few seals, sea lions and eagles. The water was so smooth. There was no hard sell to buy anything extra. I would gladly go back when in port again.

We were lucky and spent 20 mins surrounded by feeding whales. We also kayaked among seals, eagles and sea lions.

It ended up being just my friend and I during our tour with Eli and it was phenomenal! He gave us insight on the wildlife nearby and we got lucky with seeing a whale, eagle, seals, sealions and starfish along the way. Would totally do this tour again

An absolutely incredible experience with Eagle Island Sea Kayaking in Ketchikan! Our guide, Andy, was amazing; he was professional, experienced, interacted with the group well, was knowledgeable, and made us all feel comfortable and safe! It could not have been a better experience! And the highlight was being near by to a humpback whale and getting some photos! Andy also pointed out sea lions, sea otters, starfish and eagles. He narrated the tour well, and was patient and kind! The overall experience was epic and the highlight of my entire Princess cruise! I highly recommend Southeast Exposure Outdoor Adventure Center!

We did this excursion as part of our Holland America cruise. wow! We had never kayaked before. Shuttle picked us up at the ship. Sarah was our guide and she was wonderful. She was SO re-assuring about the boats - especially getting in and out of them. We (me, my husband and son) had a triple. We were a little concerned about getting wet but Sarah gave us basically "lap mats" that attached to the boat (human tupperware I think she called it :-)) Husband and son handled the oars. Sarah was so great about pointing out the various wildlife from sea stars (you can hold one!), to sea lions (bigger than we'd ever seen in La Jolla for sure) to Whales. YES, whales! We learned alot about the animals and the environment and had a wonderful time. My son even jumped off the pier into the water when we were done. VERY COLD, but a once in a lifetime experience. Great job Sarah.

No way for anyone to control the weather, but the wind, rain and choppy seas made the experience slightly less pleasurable. Wearing glasses means once the rain starts, you can’t see much. Ben, Gavin and Hallie were very good guides, helping to keep our group on course and safe.

Jacob and Katy were a lot of fun. They knew the area and seemed to be flexing the plan around the day and the ability of the guests. It was a great way to spend our time in Ketchikan!
