The trip was the highlight of my stay in Almaty, and covered some spectacular scenery. Nazerke was a great guide, knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable during the trip. Highly recommend for anyone travelling to Almaty, this is a must see.

We really enjoyed our two day Charyn Canyon and lake tours. We joined the bus at one of the pre-arranged stops early in the morning and our tour guide, Zhenis, started the day with some ice-breakers to allow the group to know each other and create a good atmosphere. The first day took us to two smaller canyons and the big Kolsai lake, through some beautiful landscapes. The smaller canyon stops were short, 20 minute stops, long enough to take some pictures and walk around the viewing areas. We then stopped for lunch in a village on the way to Kolsai lake. The food was plentiful and filling, with local foods - for meat eaters and vegetarians. The Kolsai lake was beautiful. We stayed for about an hour, long enough to walk along the lake shore and dip our toes in the freezing water. We then went to the accommodation for the night and dinner and entertainment. Food was similar to lunch, and the guesthouse and yurt accommodations were comfortable. The second day we began at Kaindy lake. The lake and surrounds are beautiful. The approach to the lake in the old busses was a great (bumpy) ride. We took the trail to the lake instead of the horse-riding, it was easy walking. However, we stayed here for maybe 2 or 3 hours, which definitely began to feel like a bit too long. Only near the end of our time there did we see that there were some trails which we could have used to hike around the lake - I guess the priority was to keep the group together but it would have been good to have been given an idea of the trails and maybe how far we could go before needing to come back. After we left we had lunch at the same village as the previous day and made our way to Charyn canyon. This was quite a long distance away but the drive was really worth it. The walk down through the canyon is on an unforgettable path. We then rode a truck back to the top which was another enjoyable ride. There were a couple of things which we thought could be improved, mainly around clarifying information: 1. Different booking sites listed different pick up locations and start / finish times, leading to some confusion in the group as to when we would be back and we were surprised at how quickly our second lunch stop was cut short. 2. There were two times where fees were different or unexpected - horse riding at Kaindy lake was more expensive than listed on the ad, which left one group member awkwardly short of cash, and the ride in Charyn Canyon wasn't covered in the fee but also didn't seem optional, we all had to pay the 1000 tenge p.p. once we arrived which clearly no one had expected. 3. If the Kaindy lake paths are more clearly highlighted to the group for those who want to spend some of the time at the lake exploring, that would make the long stop feel more worthwhile. We arrived back in Almaty at 21:00 on day 2, which was later than our advertised time of 18:00. Overall we still really, really enjoyed the trip and I would recommend to other people thinking of doing it - it was definitely worth it!

We had an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish, and this trip exceeded every expectation. The entire setup was clearly designed with quality and comfort in mind. The smaller group size made a huge difference—it never felt crowded or rushed, and we were able to properly enjoy each location at a relaxed pace. The transport was extremely comfortable, which really matters on longer journeys, and everything ran smoothly and on time. The guesthouse was excellent—clean, welcoming, and full of character. It felt authentic while still offering a high level of comfort, which is exactly what you want on a trip like this. The traditional lunch was another highlight—delicious, well-prepared, and a great way to experience the local culture properly rather than something generic or touristy. What truly made the trip, though, was our guide, Zhenis. He was exceptional. Knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what he does, he brought every part of the journey to life. He struck the perfect balance between being informative and keeping things enjoyable, and nothing ever felt forced or scripted. You can tell he cares about giving people a great experience, and it shows in every detail. If you’re looking for a high-quality, well-organised trip with a personal touch, this is exactly it. Highly recommended.

We explored Kolsay and Kaindy Lakes on April 7-8 with Zhenis from Kazakhstan Guided Tours, and the experience was top-notch. Zhenis was a brilliant guide who made the rough terrain easy to navigate and the trip completely stress-free. If you're looking for a reliable guide in Kazakhstan, book with them and ask for Zhenis!

I highly recommend this tour, especially if you don't have a problem with english. Happy to meet our tour guide, Juls, thanks alot. By this journy - could meet bunch of new friends and made such an unforgettable experience.

The 2-day trip was definitely one for the books! A huge thank you to our best guide, Zhenis, for being so kind and accommodating. He had such good chemistry with our group and made sure we were well guided the whole time. Plus, he’s a great photographer! We loved being greeted with a warm smile by our driver and guide every day. If we would have a chance to visit Almaty again it would be our pleasure to book Zhenis as our tour guide again. Such a wonderful experience!
