Our class isn’t just about learning how to cook, it’s about experiencing authentic local life and discovering the true essence of Korea.
Forget the tourist traps and what you’ve seen in guidebooks! Join me, a Gen Z Korean homemaker, on a journey to Mangwon Market, where real locals shop. Together, we’ll shop, prep, and cook together. This isn’t just a shopping trip, it’s your chance to experience how locals truly live, eat, and connect in their daily lives.

Start your day with a true Korean adventure as we explore Mangwon Market to pick out the freshest ingredients for our cooking session. Mangwon Market is a vibrant local market in Seoul with over 40 years of history, and as a Korean MZ Ajumma, it’s where I grocery shop daily. You’ll get to experience shopping at my favorite go-to stores in the market. You’ll learn how to prepare three iconic Korean dishes: Bulgogi (marinated beef), Gyeran-jjim (steamed egg), Kimbap! Our class welcomes everyone, from seasoned cooks to complete beginners. Together, we’ll create a delicious Korean-style home meal and enjoy it in a cozy studio. For a true cultural experience, we recommend you take any leftover kimbap to the nearby Han River, spread out a mat, relax, and enjoy a sunny picnic like a local! All you need is an appetite and a sense of adventure. Come hungry, and leave with delicious memories and a taste of Korean culture. Please make sure to arrive on time! If you’re more than 10 minutes late, you might miss the market tour. Let’s respect everyone’s schedule and have a great experience together! If you have any dietary restrictions, please let me know in advance.

We went to Seoul Foodventure as a family, and it was one of the best experiences we had in Seoul. It’s not just a cooking class, it’s a full cultural experience. We started with a visit to a local market with the instructor, where she explained all the ingredients we were going to use. This really makes a difference, as you don’t just show up and cook—you actually understand what you’re preparing. Our group was quite international, with a couple from the Philippines and another family from the UK, which made the experience even more enjoyable and friendly. After that, we went to the kitchen where each of us had our own portable cooking station and utensils. The instructor guided us step by step, and we cooked three dishes ourselves: kimbap, bulgogi, and steamed egg. Everything was very well organized and easy to follow, even with no prior cooking experience. What I liked the most is that it’s not just about cooking—you also learn techniques, tips, and the reasoning behind each step. The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming throughout. Highly recommended if you want to do something different in Seoul and enjoy a truly authentic experience, not just a typical tourist activity.

What a great experience!! Our crew (2 adults, 3 kods 9-14) had a great time. Shopping at the market was educational and fun. The meal we made was great. They were patient with my kids and all the food was accessible for all levels of skill. A great experience for visitors to Korea!
