Our class isn’t just about learning how to cook, it’s about experiencing authentic local life and discovering the true essence of Korea.
Forget the tourist traps and what you’ve seen in guidebooks! Join me, a Gen Z Korean homemaker, on a journey to Mangwon Market, where real locals shop. Together, we’ll shop, prep, and cook together. This isn’t just a shopping trip, it’s your chance to experience how locals truly live, eat, and connect in their daily lives.
Cooking here isn’t just about recipes; it’s about understanding the cultural meaning behind each dish. From the stories of Korea’s food traditions to the everyday life of its people, you’ll leave with more than just culinary skills—you’ll gain a deeper connection to Korean culture.
After our class, you will feel fully confident to cook some Korean when you get home. If you’ve always been curious about Korean culture, this isn’t just a cooking class. It’s a one of a kind chance to live and breathe Korea for a day.

Start your day with a true Korean adventure as we explore Mangwon Market to pick out the freshest ingredients for our cooking session. Mangwon Market is a vibrant local market in Seoul with over 40 years of history, and as a Korean MZ Ajumma, it’s where I grocery shop daily. You’ll get to experience shopping at my favorite go-to stores in the market. You’ll learn how to prepare three iconic Korean dishes: Bulgogi (marinated beef), Gyeran-jjim (steamed egg), Kimbap! Our class welcomes everyone, from seasoned cooks to complete beginners. Together, we’ll create a delicious Korean-style home meal and enjoy it in a cozy studio. For a true cultural experience, we recommend you take any leftover kimbap to the nearby Han River, spread out a mat, relax, and enjoy a sunny picnic like a local! All you need is an appetite and a sense of adventure. Come hungry, and leave with delicious memories and a taste of Korean culture. Please make sure to arrive on time! If you’re more than 10 minutes late, you might miss the market tour. Let’s respect everyone’s schedule and have a great experience together! If you have any dietary restrictions, please let me know in advance.

This is a really valuable experience. You get to go shopping at a market and get the necessary ingredients you’ll need for the day while learning about how the various ingredients used in traditional Korean cuisines are made. Cooking the food is also an enjoyable experience. Rachel was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. It’s an intimate experience with a small group, and very worthwhile! I encourage you all to try this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Amazing class! So fun and interactive! Rachel and Sue were great teachers. We learned how to make gimbap, steamed egg, and bulgogi. Visiting the market beforehand to get ingredients made the whole experience even more enjoyable!

We had a great experience with Rachel & Phoebe at Foodventures. The market tour was very interesting and the sweet treat was a nice unexpected bonus! The class was the perfect length and the amount of food is perfect for lunch. We made the mistake of eating breakfast right before hand and were quite full after the bulgogi course. Thankfully they help you pack the kimbap to go so you can save it for later! Would recommend this class to anyone visiting Seoul :)
