Nami Island
Stroll romantic tree-lined paths shaded by ginkgo, pine, and cherry trees. Rent a bike, photograph the iconic Metasequoia Lane, or enjoy outdoor performances. This half-moon-shaped island formed after the Cheongpyeong Dam raised the North Han River and is named after General Nami, a Joseon hero who defeated rebels in King Sejo's 13th year. All electric wires are buried underground to preserve the natural beauty. This peaceful island gained worldwide fame after the 2002 K-drama Winter Sonata.

Our guide Max was very friendly, spoke excellent English, answered all our questions and made sure to point out highlights in each location. Nami is a perfect place for families. It is truly a fairyland full of snowlike characters, long treelined walkways, cafes, shops and small sculptured gardens. Flute music adds to the charm. We had plenty of free time to wander. Unfortunately It rained while we were in the Gardens of the Morning Calm and that kept us from fully experiencing the beautiful sculpted trees and colors.

I, along with my friends, visited Seoul in South Korea and several beautiful places in and around Nami Island and the Garden of Morning Calm. Everything was truly wonderful and memorable. Our guide, Ms. Rose, was exceptionally friendly, cheerful, talkative, and welcoming. Her hospitality was truly praiseworthy and made our experience even more enjoyable. Further, she is a very beautiful lady and it is good luck of VIP travel to get such a staff. We would also like to state that she is an excellent guide, and we highly appreciate her services.

We visited Nami Island and the Garden of Morning Calm in early April. Ivy, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and personable. She helped us get some great family photos at both locations. This trip takes you out of the city and into two locations where the locals seem to go to relax as well. Nami Island offered some great photo ops. We arrived quite early before things got crowded. The Garden of Morning Calm was lovely - flowers were just starting to bloom and so were the cherry trees. I think an additional 30 minutes or so at each location would have been better. The last stop on the tour is to the Cheongsa Ginseng Museum, which we had been to on another tour. I would have preferred to have additional time at Nami and the garden rather than the ginseng musem. The museum is small but interesting, and is run by a company that manufactures ginseng products. The museums tour ends in the salesroom.

Our tour guide Ivy was really good at telling us all about the places and even more if you wanted too. It was nice to have a part that was with the group and after you had free time to see for yourself.
