Start your self guide tour by walking through the gate to the first camp - Auschwitz I - originally conceived as a concentration camp, to be used as a detention centre for the many Polish citizens arrested after Germany annexed the country in 1939, with the most recognizable sign Arbeit Macht Frei (Work Makes You Free). Explore at your own pace, you won't be rushed by anyone. This part usually takes 2 hours and you will be using a guide book and map. Visit the original wooden buildings, fortified walls, barbed wires, gas chambers and crematoria - all of those leave a shocking impression allowing to imagine the scale of Holocaust.

5.00This company is amazing! We had Domink & Kasper for multiple tours. They were so beyond accommodating with lots of patience. They are very baby friendly, and always made sure we were looked after with car seats for my niece and always assessed if the trips were push chair friendly. We were a very big group so it made things harder but they had a great deal of patience with us. The drivers were always so kind. Will definitely come back and book from the same company again.
