Batu Caves
What to Expect at the Batu Caves Approaching the caves, the first thing you notice is a towering golden statue of Lord Murugan. Erected in 2006, this statue is the largest in the world dedicated to the deity and stands guard to the 272 leg-burning steps that lead up to the cave entrances. Resting points along the stairs provide nice views of the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur. Some Things to Know Before Visiting the Batu Caves Admission to Batu Caves is free. The caves are open all year from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The area is not very handicap-accessible, so senior travelers may have difficulty getting up the stairs to the entrances. The wild caves are very muddy; bring a change of clothes if you plan to take any of the spelunking tours. There are stalls and restaurants offering Indian food outside the entrance of the Batu Caves. PLEASE BRING A SHAWL OR SOMETHING TO COVER YOUR KNEES. SHORTS ARE NOT ALLOWED OR YOU WILL BE CHARGE MYR15 FOR A SHAWL AT BATU CAVES.

Our driver Faridatul picked us up on time, provided excellent commentary on Malaysia and its customs and culture, helped us pick the sites to visit, and brought us back to our cruise ship on time after full day of touring.

Meeting Amir and having the privilege of him as our tour guide was an absolute blessing. We found him highly professional, knowledgeable, patient and extremely flexible even as we altered our itinerary mid way. He even served as our photographer and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Amir is an amazing ambassador for his country and we do hope we will cross paths with him again. He was an absolute highlight of our visit to KL.

We had a wonderful experience with our tour guide in Kuala Lumpur. He spoke excellent English, was very caring, knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable throughout the day. He took his time showing us all the sights without ever making us feel rushed, and shared interesting stories and local insights along the way. It truly felt like we were exploring the city with a friend rather than just a guide. Highly recommend him to anyone visiting KL!

From communication before arriving in Malaysia, to the on-time port pick-up, all was professional, efficient, friendly and flexible. We did visit Batu Caves temple, which though iconic, wasn’t our favourite part of the day. A quiet little visit to a removed and restored Malay Chief’s house from early 20th Century, in the middle of the skyscrapers and busy city, was delightful. Thanks BWM Heritage for the Rumah Penghulu Abu Seman and guided tour at 11am. The free flying (netted) walk through bird park, where we were visited by a thunderstorm, was excellent and extensive Botanic Gardens, made easy with a confusing little tram ride helped us see more in the heat. We enjoyed the comfortable car touring around and Muhammad was obliging and knowledgeable about his country and city traffic. You will not be disappointed choosing Rosman Arie KL for your day trip.

Depending on time available you may not get to every site. Discuss with driver at start of tour and as the day progresses. He was very aware of time needed to get back to ship. The tour doesn’t include narration. Per detailed description in listing. Driver Remli was excellent. Impressed by his ability to maneuver traffic so safely. He was early for pick up, easily recognizable based on detailed information including photos received in advance and very personable. Would highly recommend.
