If there were only more stars to give!. Well worth the trip up. Our driver/guide Christian was the epitome of guides. He was friendly, professional, amusing and well versed in the history of the mountain. While sharing that history, he also shared personal stories of his own which made us feel more like friends than guests. Now for the mountain.....take a jacket, take gloves, beanies, enclosed shoes, whatever you can do to protect yourself from the almost Arctic conditions 😂. Put this on your list if you come to Hobart, you won't regret it.

Fabulous walk back down using footpaths as directed by bus driver. Very varied. Could be tough if you find uneven surfaces difficult.

We loved it! Beautiful views from the top, very scenic ride up, and very friendly and knowledgeable driver. Great way to explore the mountain, taking a bus up and hiking down. Many well marked trails, with cool cafes along the way. If in Hobart and like hiking, definitely do it!

Of course, you can't choose the weather and Mount Wellington is statistically in the clouds most of the time. But the bus ride up Mount Wellington is very entertaining, especially because of the driver. They explain the history of Tasmania and the infrastructure that was mostly built by British prisoners. They also stop for exciting encounters on the open road. We saw a Black Tiger Snake and an Echidna - very exciting.

It was a very nice experience. Of course also because of the nice weather! The bus driver was friendly and funny and told a lot of stories about the mountain and the area. But I wish those guides would consider more, that not every guest is native English speaking! So slow down the talking, and don’t expect everyone to understand jokes. The bus was on time, but they didn’t provide me with a map in the bus, as promised in the confirming mail. The route downwards to Fern Tree was easy to find, though!
