Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine
We are here to help you discover new things, the Fushimi Inari Shrine is so more than its famous tunnels of vermillion-red torii gates. Most people are satisfied by a scenic view of it. But this has a lot of stories to tell that will connect you to the Japan's history and culture and your guide will show you deeper. You will see a fascinating story attached to the origin of the shrine dedicated to the god of grains – that’s what “Inari” means – . This is also why you’ll see statues of the fox around the shrine. “Kitsune” or the fox is a servant to the god Inari. They are cunning tricksters, clever minded animals who make perfect guides for the treacherous business world. You may would want the foxes on your side after this tour.

Akira greeted us at our hotel and guided us through the subway system and bus without a worry!! We visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), and the Nijo Castle. With each location, Akira gave us loads of background and history and was so sweet. He was kind and gave us a lot of insight to the beautiful culture that Japan had to offer!

Our family enjoyed a wonderful day touring Kyoto with Maya. She contacted me in advance to discuss our itinerary, interests, ages of our kids, and meeting point. We were able to customize our schedule. Maya gave us history and tradition talks throughout the day. She included stops for snacks and breaks for the kids. At the end of the tour she suggested spots for shopping and dining, then she sent us directions to the locations. We would highly recommend Maya as your guide in Kyoto!

If you have limited time in Kyoto and want to make the absolute most of it, I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. From the moment we made our booking, the communication was exceptional. Every question was answered promptly, the arrangements were clear and professional, and we felt reassured that everything was taken care of before we even arrived. When you’re visiting a city for the first time and working with limited time, that level of communication makes a huge difference. We only had a few hours available and wanted to experience as much of Kyoto as possible without feeling rushed. Thanks to the excellent planning, everything ran seamlessly from start to finish. Our guide, Harumi, was truly outstanding. Her knowledge of Kyoto’s history, culture and traditions brought every location to life. Beyond that, she was warm, engaging and incredibly attentive, adapting the tour to our interests and pace throughout the day. What impressed us most was how much we were able to see and learn in such a short time. Harumi navigated the city effortlessly, allowing us to focus on enjoying the experience rather than worrying about logistics. A particularly memorable touch was the thoughtful gifts she prepared for us, including beautiful handmade origami with special meaning behind each piece. It was a wonderful example of Japanese hospitality and omotenashi, creating a lasting memory of our visit. Kyoto is a fascinating city, and having a passionate local guide like Harumi made our experience so much richer. If you’re visiting Kyoto, especially for the first time, this tour is absolutely worth booking. Thank you, Harumi, for sharing your beautiful city with us and for making our short visit so memorable. We arrived as visitors and left feeling we had experienced Kyoto through the eyes of a local friend.

We arrived in Kyoto the evening before and took an evening tour of Gion, close to where we were staying. Unfortunately, that tour left much to be desired so we were a little cautious going into our morning tour with Shu. Fortunately, we couldn't have been more incorrect. Shu was a fantastic tour guide! He met us at our hotel on time, introduced himself (obvious, I know, but something our previous tour guide neglected), showed us a map of the area and a plan for the day and took our interests into consideration when planning the itinerary. We traveled a lot of ground! He introduced us to the public transportation system, demystified some curiosities such as why sometimes people walk on the left and then switch to the right with no apparent reason, and showed us some of Kyoto's highlights. After hearing about our previous tour experience, he even took the time to take us back to Gion to tell us about the history and culture of Geishas and Maikos that we failed to get the previous day, even though it was not part of the original itinerary. When my son was hungry, Shu was patient while we stopped to sit down and get some Tokayaki. To top it off, he showed me some places to purchase Japanese knives because I had indicated I was interested in purchasing some as a souvenir of our trip. I wish our introduction to Kyoto came with Shu. I highly recommend Shu as an A+ tour guide!!!

Truly amazing experience with a highly knowledgeable guide! Masa shared so many details and insights with us in a very entertaining way - she definitely was one of the best storytellers I have ever experienced traveling. Not only did we learn about history, religion and culture, she also made sure that we get all the necessary pictures at the best photo spots - and her food recommendations were absolutely delicious ☺️🙏
