Tour was interesting and tour guide was pleasant. Her "memorized" speeches were informative but she had only been doing this for four months and couldn't answer seemingly easy questions. She often sort of shrugged, as if we should understand. Her English was poor, which also made it difficult to ask questions. All finally, not up to the standard I usually get from Viator.

Our tour of Gion with Adrien was a highlight of our visit to Kyoto, primarily due to Adrien’s exceptional insights. Clearly, he had done his homework and at each stop revealed more fascinating details about the history, evolution and life of the geishas. Seemingly innocuous wooden structures on quiet side streets housed secrets we would have never imagined. We even saw a geisha and geisha-in-training on their way to an appointment. Later, Adrien stopped outside a house where a geisha could be seen entertaining guests inside. We all watched in silence as the ancient art unfolded. Many thanks to Adrien, whose teaching skills were put to the test on this tour, yet he never missed a question or failed to provide an answer.
