5.00My wife and I had a great experience on this tour!! Ikki was a wonderful tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and knew the answers to any and every question posed by the group. Would highly recommend as a way to see Gion, since the area is less populated at night.

5.00Booked this free, English-language walking tour with Kyoto Localized for our first night in the city. Den was a great guide - providing a fantastic history of the Gion district and the culture of Geisha's both past and present. As someone who had no knowledge of the Geisha profession before the tour, I now feel like I have a great understanding of what it's like for the girls and what the tea room culture means. Den was great at answering questions from the group and also covered some interesting bits of knowledge beyond the topic of Geishas as it related to what we saw along the route.

5.00We had a wonderful Gion night walking tour with our guide Mariko. Mariko was knowledgeable, answered all our questions and allowed us time to stop for breaks and photos. The pace and duration was perfect. We saw places we would not have known about and came away with a better appreciation of the culture and sacred places. It was magical to see the lanterns in the temples, shrines and laneways. It was also very peaceful without the masses of the daytime crowd. We greatly appreciated Mariko’s recommendations during and at the end of the tour. Thank you Mariko san for a very pleasant, fun and memorable experience. A true highlight of our time in Kyoto.

5.00We did the Kyoto Gion Night Tour with Mariko and it was exceptional. Mariko was incredibly knowledgeable and generous in sharing her knowledge with us during the tour. We went to places that we hadn’t explored yet in Kyoto. We learnt a lot about how to visit a shrine and the customs of praying. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Ikki will take you to see some spots off the beaten track and educate you about Japanese history and language along the way. He is born and raised in Kyoto and full of recommendations!
