I had the most wonderful experience at this intimate tea ceremony in Kyoto. From the moment we stepped into the beautiful traditional room, the atmosphere was calm and magical. The host was incredibly gracious and explained every step with warmth and patience. Watching the precise, graceful movements of preparing matcha felt like stepping back in time. The tea itself was rich, frothy, and perfectly balanced — easily the best matcha I've ever tasted. What I loved most was how peaceful and personal it felt. We also enjoyed delicious wagashi sweets that complemented the tea beautifully. It was a perfect blend of culture, mindfulness, and pure enjoyment. If you're in Kyoto, don't miss this. It's not just a tourist activity — it's a genuine moment of Japanese beauty and hospitality. Highly recommended! ❤️

We went into this tea ceremony experience not really knowing what to expect—and from the moment we stepped inside, we were completely impressed. Everything about the experience felt authentic, thoughtful, and incredibly well put together. We were dressed in traditional kimonos, which immediately set the tone and made the experience feel immersive. It also created some great photo opportunities, but more importantly, it gave us a deeper appreciation for the cultural significance behind what we were about to experience. What truly elevated this experience was the guide. The level of knowledge, passion, and clarity in explaining the history and meaning behind the tea ceremony—and even the symbolism in the kimono patterns—was outstanding. It never felt like a lecture; it felt like a story being brought to life. Watching the tea master prepare the tea was mesmerizing. Every movement was deliberate, precise, and rooted in tradition. It gave us a real sense of how much discipline and respect goes into something that might seem simple. The highlight was being able to participate ourselves. Learning how to properly prepare a cup of Japanese tea, while also understanding the etiquette and manners that go along with it, made the experience both interactive and meaningful. By the end, we realized this was far more than just a tea ceremony. It was a deep dive into Japanese culture and one of the most memorable experiences of our time in Kyoto. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto.

As a man, the thought of participating in a tea ceremony was uncertain and cautiously skeptical. I was I quite wrong in my pre-assessment and instead I thoroughly enjoyed it. From the selection and wearing of the haori to the photo shoot and the education and participation of the tea ceremony, I was very impressed. I would highly recommend this tea ceremony to everyone, male and female. Being half Japanese, this experience opened my eyes, heart and mind to the beauty and significance of this ceremony. Some may think it’s “expensive”. It is totally worth the experience! FYI. My personal photo was altered - hair, mustache.

Well organised, informative and fun. My son has been studying Japanese language for the last 7 years and rated the experience highly. He even got a turn at being the tea ceremony master (one person from each group booked got to do this). Highly recommend.

It was a beautiful experience. Our hosts were most welcoming and made us feel comfortable. Akira made it fun and you could tell he was proud of his heritage. He was a delight. We enjoyed learning about a small portion of Japanese culture. Our granddaughters were thrilled to dress up. My husband and son also liked it. It was great fun.
