Putting on a kimono was a much more involved process than we knew. It was so much fun dressing up for the tea ceremony. Caren and all those she worked with were so kind and very informative.

We had limited time in Kyoto and we were not disappointed to include the high tea ceremony. Learning its history, custom and getting the honor to be dressed in the traditional kimono and Samurai robe added to our experience. As a high tea master, Caren is knowledgeable, friendly and speaks very good English. Thank you!

  • A must do! Excellent tea master

The tea master and her assistant are amazing. Incredibly hospitable and welcoming. Very knowledgeable and extremely professional. They get five stars. What netted our 4 stars is that the ad I bought from showed pictures outside in a garden. Then when we got to the house and scanned the bar code it too said we would be walking a temple. We did not. So that was misleading. The other thing, I didn’t read anywhere that we would be changing in front of each other. My friend is very modest and this made her extremely uncomfortable. If other guests were there would they have changed w us. The rating is solely meant to help improve not to criticize. The over all experience was five star and highly recommend.

Such a lovely time in this little tea room with a beautiful tea master and her translator. We had 3 women help us get into our kimonos and they were so kind. A fascinating look into the history and culture.

Absolutely amazing experience! We started with such an excellent and interesting history on tea ceremonies and then got to participate in one, all while dressed in traditional Kimono. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming! Would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Kyoto!
