What To Expect

In this program, you can enjoy a tea ceremony experience while wearing a kimono. First, choose a kimono with your favorite color and pattern from the rich kimono collection in Nishijin, Kyoto. We will help you with your hair set before putting on your kimono. After that, you will have a simple photo shoot and then enjoy the tea ceremony experience with a master. Our tea room has been used for three generations. It is located near Daitoku-ji Temple, a place deeply rooted in Japanese tea culture. It's a bit old, but we'll do our best to help alleviate the fatigue from your trip to Japan. First, a tea master who has studied tea ceremonies for 30 years will show you the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. After having a cup of tea with seasonal sweets, you will learn about the history and etiquette of the ceremony, and even have the chance to prepare your tea. Why don't you share a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime time with the tea master?

What a beautiful experience. We loved every moment. Starting with traditional kimonos, we were dressed and had our hair done in preparation for the tea ceremony. We walked to the temple for the ceremony which made it even more special. We learned so much about the history of the tea ceremony and truly enjoyed every minute. We drank tea and one of us had the chance to make tea for the other. The tea master was incredible and knowing how long she has been doing it made you appreciate how special it is and has been for centuries. Take time in your trip to experience this tea ceremony. It’s once in a lifetime. Ichi Go Ichi E

A great opportunity to experience the authenticity of the traditional tea ceremony, and wearing a classic Kimono really helped get the feel of the event.

This is an amazing tea ceremony. The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They explained the culture and history of Kyoto. The tea ceremony itself was amazing. We had a small group of others and it was really nice and intimate (I guess you can say) tea ceremony as you do build banter and a good relationship with a small group. The tea master and host was really knowledgeable and nice. It was also really authentic dressing up in traditional Kimono as well for the ceremony adding to the genuine authenticity of the experience.

Lovely experience! Kimonos had gorgeous patterns and so many to choose from. The ladies did wonderfully with fitting our kimonos and hair styling!! The tea ceremony at the temple was such a beautiful experience as well as meeting a tea master with decades of experience!! To top it off, the guide was extremely well versed and very passionate about Japanese culture—love that!! Would recommend to anyone visiting the Kyoto area!!

I had no idea what to expect but this was sensational. Dressing in a kimono and experiencing a real traditional tea ceremony is a memory I will always remember. It was so beautiful. Do not miss this! So wonderful and fit this in your itinerary, you will never regret. We also bonded with others in class and enjoyed our sweet tea master. She was elegant and kind. Very professional. Everyone was so helpful getting us fitted and wonderful from picking out kimono and accessories and it was so special!! Do it! You will love it. Great for couples and families too!!

This was a truly amazing experience that I will now recommend to anyone and everyone I know. To begin with, the directions to the location were spot on. I personally would say to get there a little early so the wonderful ladies have time to dress you in the kimono, when everyone arrives at once it’s a little hectic. The ladies dress you and do your hair and then you go up stairs to where the ceremony is held. At the end, people get to have the opportunity to be the tea master. If a tea ceremony is on your list of things to do please don’t hesitate to book this one!

  • An amazing and memorable tea ceremony!

The ladies that host and perform the tea ceremony were absolutely wonderful! They were very detailed in explaining all aspects of the ceremony and demonstrating for us all how it’s done. Then the best part we got to perform the ceremony and served tea while wearing our most beautiful kimonos. I highly recommend this event to anyone who is interested in learning about a very important aspect of the Japanese culture.

To close our 10 days vacation in Japan, we decided to go with a tea ceremony. Not any tea ceremony but a Kimono dressed tea ceremony. This really makes us immersed in the Japanese culture. We had a great time and learned to appreciate the delicate simplicity of sharing tea with friends. If you really want to know about the Japanese culture, this tea ceremony is a must.
