This program is not just an experience. Many of the tea ceremony instructors who will be in charge of the tea ceremony have been involved in tea ceremony culture for many years, and they will not only explain the tea ceremony culture you want to know about, but also provide detailed explanations about all aspects of Japanese culture. They will also give you direct advice on how to enjoy the real tea ceremony culture.
Also, you can enjoy a tea ceremony experience while wearing a kimono. First, choose a kimono with your favorite color and pattern from the rich kimono collection in Nishijin, Kyoto. We will help you with your hair set before putting on your kimono. After that, you will have a simple photo shoot.

In this program, you can enjoy a tea ceremony experience while wearing a kimono. First, choose a kimono with your favorite color and pattern from the rich kimono collection in Nishijin, Kyoto. We will help you with your hair set before putting on your kimono. After that, you will have a simple photo shoot and then enjoy the tea ceremony experience with a master. Our tea room has been used for three generations. It is located near Daitoku-ji Temple, a place deeply rooted in Japanese tea culture. It's a bit old, but we'll do our best to help alleviate the fatigue from your trip to Japan. First, a tea master who has studied tea ceremonies for 30 years will show you the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. After having a cup of tea with seasonal sweets, you will learn about the history and etiquette of the ceremony, and even have the chance to prepare your tea. Why don't you share a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime time with the tea master?

I had no idea what to expect but this was sensational. Dressing in a kimono and experiencing a real traditional tea ceremony is a memory I will always remember. It was so beautiful. Do not miss this! So wonderful and fit this in your itinerary, you will never regret. We also bonded with others in class and enjoyed our sweet tea master. She was elegant and kind. Very professional. Everyone was so helpful getting us fitted and wonderful from picking out kimono and accessories and it was so special!! Do it! You will love it. Great for couples and families too!!

This was a truly amazing experience that I will now recommend to anyone and everyone I know. To begin with, the directions to the location were spot on. I personally would say to get there a little early so the wonderful ladies have time to dress you in the kimono, when everyone arrives at once it’s a little hectic. The ladies dress you and do your hair and then you go up stairs to where the ceremony is held. At the end, people get to have the opportunity to be the tea master. If a tea ceremony is on your list of things to do please don’t hesitate to book this one!

The ladies that host and perform the tea ceremony were absolutely wonderful! They were very detailed in explaining all aspects of the ceremony and demonstrating for us all how it’s done. Then the best part we got to perform the ceremony and served tea while wearing our most beautiful kimonos. I highly recommend this event to anyone who is interested in learning about a very important aspect of the Japanese culture.

To close our 10 days vacation in Japan, we decided to go with a tea ceremony. Not any tea ceremony but a Kimono dressed tea ceremony. This really makes us immersed in the Japanese culture. We had a great time and learned to appreciate the delicate simplicity of sharing tea with friends. If you really want to know about the Japanese culture, this tea ceremony is a must.

We were a bit nervous about this experience, wondering if it was going to be silly or overly touristy. It was the best experience. The dressing in the kimono was a a multi person/multilayered affair which made us respect the art of wearing this traditional dress. We learned about the steps of the ceremony from a wonderful tea master and were able to perform (a very inept and inprecise) ceremony ourselves. We would highly recommend.

The tea ceremony at Imamiya Jinjya Shrine was such a beautiful day! They make picking out and putting on your kimono a special experience. Then they make sure you have a beautiful picture while chatting with you and making sure you feel comfortable. Then the tea ceremony begins - you learn about the deep history of tea masters and this ceremony in Japan's history in an incredibly meditative state. I would absolutely do this again.

What an amazing experience! The ladies that did our hair and dressed us in the Kimonos were so kind, the Kimonos were beautiful and the tea master and other ladies assisting with the ceremony were so lovely too! The man interpreting and taking our photos in the Kimonos was really lovely and having the ceremony done in Japanese and translated made it feel more special. He even gave us some extra information on the history of the tea ceremony fan which was really interesting. Even though I was the only person in the room that was a solo traveller I still got the opportunity to make tea myself and everyone was lovely and encouraging. Even though I've done this experience now I'd definitely do this again!

How lovely to attend an authentic tea ceremony and learn about this rich history. We got to pick out our kimonos and the staff was wonderful with taking all the photos and even letting us make the tea too. Could not recommend this more!
