This tour offers an all-round experience of matcha production in Uji and an insightful look at a central component of Japanese culture. Uji is definitely worth a visit and the tour provided us with a good view of the town landmarks.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and an amazing host! She gave great tips and advice on where and which matcha teas to buy. She balanced giving us lots of historical facts with just chatting with everyone in our group. The tour is well curated with many different matcha tastings. Lunch was delightful in a riverside restaurant. The lunch was mostly vegetarian-friendly (just one small piece of eel that could be avoided if you chose). Uji is really a special place! It was so picturesque and filled with history. It was also quite walkable in one day. We saw temples, historical bridges, participated in an authentic tea ceremony, and walked up to see some tea farms. It was a great way to spend a day and easy to get to from Kyoto.

I was looking forward to this tour the most and it didn't disappoint. Terumi is so knowledgeable and thoughtful and made thus such a wonderful experience. She went at our pace, took pictures along the way and shared her knowledge about the tea, the farms and the best quality. I highly recommend this tour as you won't have a better experience anywhere else.

Our Uji trip was simply amazing! Terumi, our incredible guide, took us on a walk that left us in awe. She showed us the most unique and fascinating spots in Uji that we had a particular interest in. With her vast knowledge and entertaining personality, she made sure we had an unforgettable experience. We even had the privilege of meeting the best matcha farmer around, who had won two awards - one in Paris and one from the mayor of Uji. He graciously made us some matcha and we were blown away by his kindness. We also got to meet the people in charge of the main bridge and bought some more matcha and tools to bring home. Our vegetarian lunch was beyond delicious and we even got to grind our own matcha at the same place. The walking paths we took were purposeful and we covered a lot of ground. My daughter, her friend, my friend, and I absolutely loved the entire trip and are so grateful to Terumi and the people of Uji for making it unforgettable!

Terumi was the most wonderful host and tour guide in Uji. I was in awe of how much knowledge she shared about tea, temples, pottery, and culture. The experience was perfectly paced and I got to try everything - grinding my own matcha, attending a tea ceremony, visiting a temple, and buying plenty of goodies. This was my favorite day in my month of traveling through Japan, all thanks to Terumi. I cannot recommend the experience enough, no matter how much knowledge you have about tea and tea culture to start.

Our tour guide, Mimi, was patient and kind to us. She was informed and took us to all of the beautiful places in Uji. We would definitely recommend this for others as we enjoy it and our teenage sons also remained engaged because of the Miki.

Very informative tour! Terumi is knowledgeable and thoughtful - she planned out a great itinerary and shared history at every stop! We got so much more than a beautiful tea ceremony from our experience. We especially loved the matcha workshop and the amazing lunch spot on the River. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in matcha or the history of tea in Japan.

Terumi was an amazing guide, so knowledgeable, friendly, fun and really knows the area well. We went to see many different locations, make some matcha powder, be part of a tea ceremony and even shopping at some of the historic stores. One of the highlights of our Kyoto trip without a doubt, couldn’t recommend this highly enough.
