We came to a knife sharpening class in Kyoto with a group of friends and had an amazing experience. Brian and Al are truly skilled masters who clearly know their craft. They explain everything in a simple, patient, and detailed way, making it easy to follow even for beginners. You can really feel their passion and experience throughout the session. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and the whole process was both educational and enjoyable. We learned a lot and genuinely had a great time. Highly recommend this class to anyone interested in knives or Japanese craftsmanship.

We had a great experience at this workshop. I went with my husband and friends, and we really enjoyed making our own knives, sharpening them, and adding engravings. The workshop was very affordable and the instructors were amazing. Brian and Al were very friendly, helpful, and explained everything clearly. They also filmed videos of our process on our phones, which was a really nice touch. This is a wonderful idea for a unique souvenir or gift. We made one knife for our family and kept one for ourselves as a special memory. Highly recommend!

Great experience with a lot of knowledge from the knife masters. Our instructors were super informed about Japanese knives and the art of "Japanese maintenance culture". The knives we sharpened were wrapped aesthetically and came with a care guide and rust removal thingy. 10/10 recommend for a personalized and authentic Japanese souvenir!!

Attending this knife-sharpening workshop was a highly rewarding experience. It took away all my fears of using a whetstone by making the steps incredibly straightforward. My favorite takeaway was the angle trick: using the height of your little finger to perfectly measure a 15-degree tilt. It's such a simple hack, but it makes the process so much easier and takes the guesswork right out of it.
