Only a 30-minute boat ride away from busy Kampala lies a magical place without traffic, fumes and hustler’s hassle. The area offers some of Uganda’s best mountain bike trails which will lead you through lovely villages and beautiful nature. There are some nice climbs and the track will contain a mix of wide gravel fire roads and single tracks. Experience encounters with the friendly locals and discover the real Uganda.
The ride is around 20km long, goes at an easy pace and is suitable for beginners. Our guides know the area very well and can adjust the route according to your skill and fitness level. On the way we will stop for some delicious Ugandan snacks before we will settle down for drinks on the beach of Lake Victoria at our final destination.

Great trip! James was a great guide. Nice roads and beautiful views. Take some hard candies along to share with the local kids that will inevitably chase you.

What a wonderful experience! We booked with short notice and everything went perfectly! We received communication from the tour guide within an hour of booking, and he was very helpful setting everything up. The tour was amazing. The bikes were in good shape and fit us well, The tour route was interesting and a bit challenging and the sites were wonderful. I was also very grateful for our tour guide sharing so much information about his culture and even and helping us communicate through the local language. We also enjoyed eating local food from the small villages along the way. This was a great tour and would recommend to anyone! Don’t skip red dirt Uganda when you come.

What an incredible day ride with Shedrack! A short jaunt from my hotel and a cool little boat ride to a rustic community in and off single track. Some preserved forest and even a monkey siting! My guide catered to my needs and even added a few kms so we could visit another eco lodge. Highly recommend for all skill levels!

A beautiful and humbling Lake Victoria bike tour experience. I had an incredible bike tour around Lake Victoria with James as my guide. He was excellent—knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely kind. As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe and well taken care of. Despite heavy rain and muddy trails (other groups had even turned back!), James still cycled beside me the whole way, while I hiked and jogged through the trails, so I could continue exploring the community and enjoying the trail. The people we met were warm and welcoming, and the entire experience was truly humbling. It’s a perfect short escape from the hustle of Kampala. Highly recommended!

A fantastic experience, highly recommended, far away from the hustle of the city. The boat trip alone is an adventure, stunning scenery, passing through several villages and getting a glimpse into the lives of the locals. The paths are mostly narrow, often with some ups and downs. Many children wave and smile at you. The tour guide (Shedrack) is absolutely wonderful – very helpful, friendly, and professional. He made frequent stops and explained the different fruits, plants, and animals. A very good bike and equipment are provided. Many thanks also for the short-notice organization and for accommodating my requests.

The ride was perfectly orchestrated from start to finish. The organizers made sure I had a bike that fit and was comfortable. The boat ride to the island was short but smooth and beautiful. The ride on the peninsula was spectacular. I felt like I was seeing the real Uganda. The people, especially the kids were so friendly! The ride was not super challenging but just enough to count as good exercise and to really feel like I saw some wonderful sites. Thanks so much!

We had a great time! Our guide Shadrack was a total pro: knowledgeable, sensitive, very enjoyable to spend time with. We loved the boat ride, and the rural vibes and scenic views in immediate proximity to the bustling - and polluted - city of Kampala. A welcome fresh air day trip. Maybe not for the faint of heart or out of shape… the terrain is hilly and rather rough going at times. We enjoyed the challenge.

We really enjoyed our morning’s mountain biking with James, an excellent guide. Cycling on a variety of roads and single track paths we covered just under 30 km through some lovely scenery, up and down hills and along beaches. Highly recommended!
