Selam and welcome! My name is Mareg, a proud local guide from Lalibela—a place of history, faith, and living tradition.
Guiding is not just my job; it’s my passion. I grew up with the stories of the Rock-Hewn Churches and love bringing them to life for my guests.
Explore Lalibela with me and truly experience it. I’ll take you through hidden passages, explain deep spiritual meanings, and share traditions most visitors never discover.
My tours offer: • Engaging storytelling
• Traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony
• Hands-on cooking of authentic Ethiopian food
• Friendly, personalized guiding
• Hidden places and real local life
• Help with transport, accommodation, and travel tips
During special times like Genna, experience pilgrims, chants, and ancient rituals.
Whether it’s your first visit or a deeper journey, I’ll make it meaningful and memorable.
Send me a message anytime—I’d be happy to welcome you!

We had an incredible hike with Mareg and his team. The whole experience was unforgettable, incredibly organised and authentic. The food and chef was the best we had in Ethiopia, we met and danced with locals each night and really enjoyed visiting the highland towns.

Trip highly recommended, Lalibela has to be seen, the "Jerusalem of Africa" with no less than 11 church dug into the rocks! We were lucky to be there during the 3 day Epiphany week-end with uninterrupted celebrations. The 4 day treck in the high plateaux was also a superb experience mixing with the locals who all work very hard from a young age. Very welcoming locals, superb guides. Thank you so much!!
