Embark on a journey to one of Iceland’s most captivating destinations Landmannalaugar, famous for its breathtaking landscapes such as vibrant colored rhyolite mountains, bubbling hot springs, lava fields and epic hikes.
The lava fields and the rhyolite mountains are the result of thousands of years of volcanic activity. Laugahraun lava field was formed in a volcanic eruption in 1477 consisting of vast erratic black obsidian, famed in the TV series Game of Thrones as “Dragon Glass”. Rhyolite is a type of volcanic rock that is made of quartz and silica and with minerals such as iron and sulphur adding extra color to the mountains, like Brennisteinsalda.
We will stay over 3 hours in Landmannalaugur and we offer approx. 2 hour guided hike up to Brennisteinsalda, but you are welcome to explore the area on your own within the given time frame. You can take on different trail or just relax and stay longer in the natural hot pool – just don’t forget to bring your swim suit and a towel!

Great trip to one of the remote areas of Iceland. Beautiful rock formations, mountains and water. Trip was well organized and well run. Guide has great knowledge of geology and was extremely helpful and careful.

Highly recommend this trip for both single travelers, families and couples. Small bus with very informative and enthusiastic guide, sharing great knowledge about Iceland throughout the tour. Stunning scenic drive through rough landscape and amazing hike, that was adjustable according to physical abilities and desires. 5/5!

The Landmannalaugar hike, hot springs bath, and Valley of Tears were wonderful, definitely worth it. On the downside, it is a long drive with a significant portion on bumpy gravel roads that were uncomfortable. The access to food and bathrooms is limited.

An amazing place to visit. Best thing we did in Iceland. Eddie was a great tour guide. I could have spent much longer in Landmannalauger. Scenery was outstanding and unlike anything we have seen. If I were to change anything it might perhaps be to allow for those who are a little faster/ more experienced walkers to explore more and to give more time to hiking in Landmannalauger. Still overall fabulous and worth doing

I loved this tour! There wasn't enough time to really be able to enjoy landmannalaugar. I barely got the circle hike in and was 10min late back to bus. The other highlight for me was Valley of the tears. A slice of heaven in the middle of nowhere. The only reason im giving 4 stars is because there need to be more time to hike at landmannalaugar. I think i was the only one that even attempted it because they were worried about getting back to bus. Also the guide suggested that you could hike to top of mountain, no way in the amount of time you have. Absolutely a gorgeous area!!!

This was such a unique and special day trip. My friend and I rented a 2WD car but still wanted to explore this area of the country. This day trip was perfect because the tour guide was very experienced in driving through that tough terrain and winding roads. I believe if we had gone on our own that we would have likely gotten lost and busted a tire. It’s a long drive but when you get there, you get 15 minutes to use the restroom and grab snacks from the stand before embarking on this beautiful hike. Just a unique landscape is all I can say. When we reached the half point we were told that we could rather stay with the group or continue on the orange trail back to where we started (it’s a loop) and head into the geothermal baths early. There are no changing rooms next to the baths so definitely plan to get changed in the bathroom building and prepare to have the best natural bath experience you’ve ever had. It’s extremely picturesque and incredibly relaxing. The cold wind is annoying but the naturally hot water coming into the bath keeps you very warm. This day trip was a highlight of our trip and I recommend everyone to do it.

Great experience but really wet and rainy. Roads were really rough. Don't try to drive there on your own. Thomas did a great job on the hike.
