Xintiandi
Find your way to the Huangpi Nan Road metro station in Shanghai, and meet your guide and group at 8:30 p.m. Depart on foot for the Xintiandi area, and make your first stop at a local restaurant serving up the best hand-pulled and knife-cut noodles made by ethnic minority (Uyghurs) in the city. Find a table among the locals, then taste the famous dish and participate in an in-depth discussion on the flavor and consistency of the broth, the quality of the meat filling, and the texture of the dumplings' skin. Learn about the history of this dish as a Shanghainese staple.
Former French Concession
Continue to the famous Zhaozhou Road, one of the most popular night market where world-famous chef Anthony Bourdain stumbled upon, approximately 15 minutes' walking distance. See the border where French-style apartments suddenly give way to traditional Chinese stone door houses (Shikumen). Visit three restaurants in the neighborhood to try local dishes and see how the native city residents eat and live.
Your tour starts at 8:30pm, and please meet up at Exit 2, South Huangpi Road Station (Shanghai metro line 1).

We had a great time last night with Miss Yu and this food tour. She started us out with 7 or 8 dishes at a Michelin-reviewed restaurant. First rate. Then on to a dumpling place, a noodle shop, a gelato place (with Chinese flavors), a bbq shop, and topped it off with a late night specialty fruit store. We must have had 20+ different things to try. Please don’t eat anything after lunch. You will be stuffed on this tour!! Our guide, Yu, was delightful. She gave us a lot of background information and jokes around with us. The tour was from 8:30-11:30pm and it seemed to pass very quickly. We never waited for a table more than a minute and she took us down all sorts of hidden passageways. A true highlight of our two weeks in China. Best food we had here by far. Highly recommend. Easily worth the price and we happily tipped for the awesome time. You will not be disappointed. Great evening!!

Six of us had a great time with Miss Yu on our food tour last night. We went to a Michelin star restaurant as a starter and sampled 7 or 8 dishes. Then to a backstreet noodle place, a dumpling shop, a late night fruit place, and a couple other places that have slipped my memory. She was a really fun tour guide - gave us background on the food and the area. Joked around with us, and made the evening really enjoyable. Every spot had a seat for us… and we didn’t have to wait for more than a minute at every place. Tour went from 8:30 to 11:30 and it seemed like only a few minutes. Please don’t eat anything before the tour. You will be stuffed by the end. We had a vegan among us, and Yu had no problem at all getting her many tasty things too. Text before the tour and give your specifics - pro or con alcohol, vegan, other restrictions. She’s awesome and seemed to handle our needs easily. Highly recommend. Best food we had in 2 weeks in China.

Five stars! The night food tour in Shanghai was fantastic, largely thanks to my exceptional guide. She was amazing—incredibly communicative and just genuinely cool to hang out with. She didn't just point out great places to eat; she made the whole experience engaging and fun. If you want a tour with great food and even better conversation, book this one!

This was a fantastic tour and Jamie was a great host. She was very knowledgeable about Shanghai and its local food and we tried a wide variety of local dishes at non-touristy places. All the food was great and there was a lot of it!
