Xintiandi
Find your way to the Huangpi Nan Road metro station in Shanghai, and meet your guide and group at 8:30 p.m. Depart on foot for the Xintiandi area, and make your first stop at a local restaurant serving up the best hand-pulled and knife-cut noodles made by ethnic minority (Uyghurs) in the city. Find a table among the locals, then taste the famous dish and participate in an in-depth discussion on the flavor and consistency of the broth, the quality of the meat filling, and the texture of the dumplings' skin. Learn about the history of this dish as a Shanghainese staple.
Former French Concession
Continue to the famous Zhaozhou Road, one of the most popular night market where world-famous chef Anthony Bourdain stumbled upon, approximately 15 minutes' walking distance. See the border where French-style apartments suddenly give way to traditional Chinese stone door houses (Shikumen). Visit three restaurants in the neighborhood to try local dishes and see how the native city residents eat and live.

Jamie was a beautiful soul and so enjoyable to spend a bit of time with. Very knowledgeable on the area and the food. She also went out of her way to help us connect as our driver had taken us to incorrect meeting spot.

Patrick was such a great guide to show the different food options from different parts of China. Also, if you are interested he is great to talk about Chinas culture. The reviews don’t lie, come hungry, there is soooo much food. Must try whilst in Shanghai.

Cindy is a great tour guide that speaks perfect English. It’s impossible to find the food spots we visited without a local guide.

It is a fantastic opportunity to be immersed like a local in the history, culture and food of Shanghai. If you want to experience the native Shanghai, I highly recommend this tour! It is a small group and the tour guide tailors the stops to your needs and preferences. Also so much food! I definitely will do the tour again when I'm back in Shanghai. 5 stars!

The tour was amazing! We ate many dishes that we otherwise would never have tasted, all absolutely delicious! Our tour guide Jaime, who speaks English very well, knew so much about the food and where to go. It was so much fun hanging out with her while she was showing us the city and teaching us about its history and about her culture as a Shanghainese. 10/10 would recommend!
