Sheffield
The Town of Murals. Sheffield is a small and quirky rural village, in the foothills of the mountains. Sheffield is Tasmania’s own outdoor art gallery, featuring over 100 paintings on the walls of buildings across the town. The artwork depicts the history of the Cradle Mountain region and is a great taster of what is to come, before we continue onwards into the mountains.

Wasn’t able to complete the whole tour itinerary due to weather conditions. Was still a good day out despite this. Must see destination.

Beautiful scenery, nice walks. We were lucky as it had snowed so it was even more picturesque, but that also made some of the trails slippery and some options not available to us. The dove lake walk is just lovely and then you go on a little wander and can hopefully see some wombats. Only downside is the winding and rougher roads so if you can, don’t sit at the back of the bus if you get a bit car sick or a bad back. Other than that we absolutely loved this trip.

Fantastic day at Cradle Mountain, thanks to Graeme, who not only made this place more incredible than it already is, but also made the journey there an extremely fun and interesting ride with his vast knowledge of the destination and the surrounding areas. We did the Dove Lake Circuit and a short walk nearby to view the wombats. Heading home, we stopped off at the Raspberry farm for some delicious coffee and souvenir shopping. We would highly recommend booking with Tours Tasmania for a stress-free and wonderful experience.

You will need some luck with the weather, which we did. Graeme was our tour driver and was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information throughout the journey there and back. Tours Tasmania also provide wet weather gear and gloves and beanies. Once you arrive at Cradle mountain you are free to choose your own walk, the tour guide does not join you.

Beautiful trip to Cradle Mountain! Our guide Damian shared interesting information about what we were seeing en route. He was able to offer specific suggestions for different walks at Cradle Mt that suited a variety of participants/skill levels. We did the Dove Lake circuit walk and really enjoyed it. Damian was a very thoughtful and knowledgeable guide and created a very pleasant experience.

Graham the guide was always helping everyone be informed and enjoy their hike. It was a wet grey day but it didn’t matter it was a delight to be there. The landscape is enchanting, other worldly. I half expected a goblin to jump out from behind a lichen covered tree in the enchanted forest.
